Samsung QN95A Neo QLED - is my one connect box having issues?

Got the new NeoQLED 3 weeks ago and have had some issues which make me think the One Connect may be faulty or having some issues.

1st issue was ethernet connection, kept popping up randomly on screen that cable disconnected and then reconnected. I got a new cat5 high speed cable and still the same, so unplug ethernet and setup wireless and all working ok now it seems.

2nd issue is to do with sound. I had the TV setup with the Samsung Harmon 950, with Sky Q and Xbox Series X.

When watching a movie on the Xbox, every so often the sound will just go for a second or two. Same happens sometimes with SkyQ as well. On the soundbar when it did this it kept popping up Dolby Atmos as switching on, so wasnt like a consistent signal was going to the soundbar (TV Settings were set to Auto for sound pass through on eARC and it happens with all options of sound in the tv menu).

I chatted to Samsung who said the soundbar may not be compatible with the TV (which to me came across as an excuse rather than it actually being incompatible).

So I purchased a new soundbar, a Sonos Arc, set it all up, new HDMI 2.1 cables for each device now as well (and swapping what is in which HDMI port on the OneConnect).

Same issue, sound will cut out every so often when watching a movie or SkyQ, which is a bit annoying, this is ONLY on externally connected devices, if i watcha  movie on Netflix/Prime/Disney+ or from my local NAS, it works fine.

All of this just makes me think there is an issue with the OneConnect box or the OneConnect cable, has anyone else had similar issues or any possible solutions to try? Or do I book a repair to try and get a replacement OneConnect box and cable?

Yes all resolved now only problem I had was after a few weeks the screen would cut out every now and then . So I turned off input plus and it seems to fixed the problem uhd still works. I think this is more of a problem with the sky q box though. there are a lot of people complaining on there web site with the same issue.

Thanks will give it a go. See if works for me also. Have a Sky engineer booked in for the 27th as they've not been able to help remotely either. My sky box is from 2018 so thinking might be a hardware compatibility issue with the HDCP linking.

Hi all,

We got our QN95A last week - linked up with SkyQ/PS5/Yamaha AV377 Amp.

I had seen mention of the cut-out issues in many places but had not seen this with ours until I enabled 10bit HDR on the SkyQ box.

PS5 etc. have all been fine.

SkyQ seems to have a cut-out issue on first selection for input, maybe a few flickers on/off then settles.

Looks to me like some form of handshake issue with the 10bit input to the OneConnect box.

For those having this issue with SkyQ/QN95 TV's, have you got 8 or 10bit enabled on the Sky box video output settings?

We do have the TV app/no ARC sound issue which randomly occurs - if I exit the app, set the TV audio output to passthrough, then re-open the TV app, all is well and we get 5.1 OK....

Hopefully we'll see a TV firmware update to fix these issues, I've read once that there is a Korean update to resolve things but nothing mentioned for other countries yet.

I am considering the QN800a, so the One Connect box has an issue with over heating?

Thanks.

Chris,

out of interest what is your ps5 set up or have you simply connected it to hdmi 1 or 2 of the one box using the PS5 hdmi cable and default settings?

reason that I ask is that in game mode on my PS5 the picture and sound drop out for 1 sec (black screen) before returning

Literally the standard, automatic settings - not sure what HDMI input it is on though for the OneConnect box - using the cable that came with the PS5 in the box. Input Signal Plus is enabled on the HDMI input itself via the TV.

Only thing we did was to turn off input signal plus on the input for are sky box which seems to have fixed the black out and sound cut out. From what I’ve read it’s something to do with changing the sky box to 10bit 4k. Doing this has not stopped the 4k working so not sure what the input signal plus is meant to do as the tv works with out it on. It might work for your ps5 as it sounds like the same problem.

Input Signal plus I think is needed for SkyQ 10bit - however all this offers over 8bit is HDR support - if none of the content you watch has HDR (there isn't much!) then 10bit isn't a big thing and 4k still works.

For the PS5, disabling ISP probably affects being able to use 120fps/hz and also HDR.

Thanks for letting me know. When we watch a film or something with hdr I will turn it on as it only happens when it is standard or hd  tv 👍
