Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue with my new 55" S95D when starting games on my Xbox X.
Starting up the Xbox works fine. And i can see that the HDR is inactivated, using the game mode quick settings menu, while I'm in the Xbox start page/home view.
But when i choose to start a game, the window goes black for about 3 seconds and then the tv claims the external unit is not powered. Which I believe is triggered when the HDR is activated.
I've tested three different HDMI cables. One is the Xbox included one and the other two is HDMI 1.2 Ultra High Speed cables. 0,5m and 2m in length.
My gut feeling is this is software related somehow, maybe conflicting settings?
Any one that experienced the same or have any suggestions of potential solutions?

Hi and welcome, occasionally i still get this issue with Sky Q (...unit not powered on, I have to switch it off from the plug), I found the more competing connections you have, the more likely a problem, I used to have a Firestick, Apple TV and USB plus Sky Q connected, was a pain as Apple and the Firestick always fighting for control of the input.

@Arvidw: Does the picture return after launching a game, or does it remain blank? Have you tried pressing and holding the Power button on your Xbox to perform a Soft Reset, to see if this helps? If it doesn't, try an alternate HDMI port, just in case there is an issue with the current connection.

Ah, ok. i only have the apple tv and the xbox connected, and they tend to be not be powered at the same time. So not sure if there is a control of input fight going on. Do you have any of your issues that might be connected to HDR content? My 'feeling' that it's when the source goes from SDR to HDR that it occurs.

It goes black for 5 seconds and then the 'External device not powered' screen is showing on the tv. With the option of 'Turn on device' which instead turns of the external device, since it's already on.
It has occurred in three separate ports, but once it worked when i disconnected the HDMI and re-connected it to the same port.
Not happening every time though.. so it's all a very spooky kind of issue

I am having this issue for a while now. I have switched cables…no help. It’s super annoying. Anyone fix this yet?

I replaced my cable with this 8k one and it’s not dropped out since!

Hi all,
After conversations with Samsung support I 'pulled the plug' on the connect box and left it without any power for a couple of minutes for it to be reset. And since then i haven't experienced the issue again. So recon it was some software glitch that was the cause of my issues.
