Hey everyone...
So I have a question about Inverse Ghosting on my 55Q90T while playing on a PS4 Pro and a PS3 (I don't have a PC or a Xbox to test another hardware).
Since update 1460,9 (and after multiple factory reset) :
So, my thing is I'm not strict about response time. Unless I'm playing a competitive online shooter or fighter, I don't really notice the difference. So I would like to enjoy the better picture quality of the picture modes outside Game Mode, but the inverse ghosting (especially in dark games or during night time in open world games) is unbearable.
What is worrying me is that as far as I know most people don't have any inverse ghosting issue after the 1304 patch.
Just to be clear, my "ghosting" looks like a purple silhouette that appears in front of dark objects on light(er) backgrounds when camera panning.
I thought maybe my panel was faulty, but then why would it go away with the patch in Game Mode? Also, the weird thing is that, sometimes, while tinkering with the settings, the ghosting goes away for just a little bit, and then comes back for whatever reason (without me changing anything).
Some games that will immediately show me inverse ghosting :
Thanks for anyone who can help, I'm at a loss here!

Hi Paranoia, just an advice : send back your tv for exchange. I managed to have mine taken back by the seller (even after 4 months of waiting for updates or Samsung sending a tech to my home). I'll see what happens from here, I hope they will just exchange it (and hopefully quickly, but there's not a lot of things I can do about that).
Long story short, the probability that the problem is firmware based and not hardware based is very small. Save yourself weeks or months of frustration and send it back.
What a shame this panel lottery thing, the tv is gorgeous when it works well, but I've seen so many diverse flaws expressed on forums, it seems Samsung dropped the ball for some panel series...

I'm having a similar problem on my Q80T, I tried playing Hitman on my PC with HDR on and encountered greenish ghosting artifacts in dark areas trailing behind objects. I tried using Vsync and turning off Freesync, but it only got a bit better. Now with Game Mode OFF and HDR on, or with Game Mode ON and HDR off, I'm not experiencing it at all. (I saw some people mention turning on/off Game Motion Plus, but for some reason I cant access the Game mode options while ingame, so wasnt able to try it? Got an error message about not being able to use the options when VRR is on, and with Vsync instead I only got "this function isnt available"). I'm in 1403, the latest firmware. Is this the same issue? And being only in Game Mode I doubt its a problem with my panel but with Samsungs implementation of Game Mode, yeah?

Q80T owner here. Havent noticed any ghosting until i played sea of thieves on series x at night. Fairly obvious now... Tried on pc and gamemodes dont really do much except ghosting is purple when 120 hz and green when 60. Weird. Also heavily depends on games but i found one when its easily noticable.
Really a shame, have no problems with it beside this. FW is 1403 but when im looking in the info it says 1403.1

just got off the phone with technician thats coming to my house, he has already ordered parts without even seeing the tv 65"q90t.. im experencing bad purple ghosting.

Interesting... did he tell you the parts he's bringing?
My set is coming back today after being through repair service. But the customer service is unable to provide me with a precise repair report that specify clearly what has been done, so I was (and still am) very doubtful that my tv will come back "fixed".
But what you say about "bringing the parts" tends to make me think techs are now aware of the problem (even if Samsung doesn't acknowledge the problem officially) and that a simple part swap can solve it. Fingers crossed...

no he did not mention the parts, all he said was that he was gonna check to see if they had the parts in, if not he would have to order them and that would take up to a week. ill keep u uodated on progress. let us know about your tv aswell.

Hello all,
This morning I was playing a bit and made 2 videos showing the purple/green ghosting on my 55 Q80T.
Its about time to samsung fix this issues...
I'm trying to have a replacement with samsung support but they don' t have a conclusion yet.
You can see the videos here:
We need to keep showing samsung evidences of the problem, this is not our imagination, they are selling top products with faults, and they must fix this.

Here are some examples from me

So, here we go for the update.
My tv came back after "repairs".
The report pinned to the box said : "Screen and motherboard replaced". And, as far as I can know, it seems genuine (the screen still had its protective film and the back sticker was changed. But of course I can't vet for it 100%, but it seems the part swap has been done.
Now for the results : no change... at all.
The issues continue as they were :
- purple ghosting in every mode except Game Mode (GMP off)
- extremely bad local dimming in Game Mode SDR
- subpar local dimming in Game HDR
- weird "scanlines" in Game Mode (GMP off) when the screen presents wide uniform colors, but a lot less noticeable than before
So, after consideration, I will keep the TV and let Samsung win because :
- I am a feeble man and can't be bothered anymore. I am getting surgery in one week and won't be able to pack and unpack a tv anytime soon, so I have to accept my fate
- with the arrival of my PS5, I can now play all my games in HDR (it is set by default on the PS, even in the menu, and the console plays even SDR games in HDR), and the local dimming in Game Mode HDR is bearable right now, and it it the only issue with a Game Mode that looks otherwise gorgeous
- the DSE on my screen is not bad at all, so that's a plus
- beside said issues, the tv is fantastic, so I'll pray for more firmware updates that will solve everything (or at least the local dimming in Game Mode, since I don't think the ghosting will be solved...)
So sorry about the bad news, let us know what the tech coming to your home says and brings. If the part swap works, please write down what parts changed so we can specify it when communicating with Samsung.
