It is time for Dolby Vision!

Dear Samsung,

your HDR10+ alliance is breaking further apart and is at an end. 20th Century is giving up HDR10+, Disney is not interested either and is fully committed to Dolby Vision. Panasonic, co-founder of HDR10+, has also been open to the opening of Dolby Vision for some time now (with good reason).

In short, Dolby Vision is the clear winner! Why does Samsung refuse to open Dolby Vision? HDR10+ is at the end, as you can already see:

Netflix: No interest in HDR10+
Apple TV: Not interested in HDR10+
Disney: No interest in HDR10+
Prime Video: HDR10+ available, BUT 99% only HDR10 without dynamic metadata, Dolby Vision with full metadata available!

Ultra HD BluRays: Hardly any HDR10+ content, but extremely much Dolby Vision content. Soon there will be no more 4k BluRays anyway. Then everything will run via streaming.

In the end it is not comprehensible why Samsung is sticking with HDR10+. It's over. Dolby Vision is the clear winner, especially since Dolby Vision IQ has already been developed further.

If Samsung wants to attract new customers and retain old ones in the future, Dolby Vision must be introduced. What could Samsung not have for horny TVs, Q90r, Q85r, Q95T, Q90T etc. with Dolby Vision (and HDR10+). The perfect equipment for 4k content. If you continue to shut yourself off against it, I honestly see black.

I hope that when Dolby Vision is introduced, we old users with 2019/2018 QLEDs will also be considered. This is unfortunately not always the case with you Samsung.

In this sense, it is high time for Dolby Vision on Samsung TVs. HDR10+ has (clearly) lost.

(But probably Samsung is not interested in the opinion of its community and is probably too ambitious as HDR10+ developer to admit defeat)

Hi everybody,

I don't think we'd get anywhere in the world without a difference in an opinion, but there are much better ways to express this than with hateful words or insults! I've edited your posts for you to make sure they're keeping up with our family-friendly forum reputation, and wanted to drop in to remind you to be civil when posting on our forum. Samsung will never have DV thing because

Samsung developed HDR10+ royalty free along with 20th century fox and Warner bros as partners so basically they are rivals with dolby..

It's is all about money dolby vision along with dolby atmos which u have to purchase in

Windows.. NO THANX

HDR10+  BEST

There is another rival  technology IMAX devleoped in canada

It uses 2 4k laser projection and partnered withDTS sound.

Now there is IMAX Enhanced 4k hdr

As a consumer who works hard for their money, why, in this case would one limit themselves to "20th century fox and Warner bros" to enjoy the full potential of their TV.

The wise decision would be to future proof your investment and go for both formats (I work hard for my money).

HDR10+ vs DV is similar to the war between BluRay and HD-DVD.

The last thing one should want is to end up being a collateral in a war.

I am holding on buying a Samsung TV till next year lineup. If no DV support I'm switching.

I refuse my viewing options be limited noting today there is far more DV content than HDR10+.

You see how you naive?

Just because u watching influencing youtube videos tv comparisons and just because you see dolby little bit more saturated you blindly going for that..🤷‍♂️

You don't have to wait why? Samsung will never have support for it. You can now go ahead and buy other brand..

Is it you choosing laptop or phone and u stacking phones next to it and you choosing which phone will have better screen? No

Simply because suddenly you don't mind.. You would still choose phone or laptop not how screen good is but the brand and specs.. Suddenly you don't need DV on it right?

Am trying to explain how  human being (especially males) can be tricked by these influencing youtube comparisons tv put next to each other.

If you would never see the comparisons on Internet, you would never ONLY require DV on tv just because you saw it you want it. Humans naivety 🤷‍♂️

You're all over the place and contradicting yourself in each post.

Your said before "HDR10+ BEST". Fair enough i don't think in any post anyone has any issue with HDR10+, it is the lack of DV that is the problem.

But let us focus on "HDR10+ BEST", a strain of though in your logic, in the prior post you said people are tricked for believing DV gives any value and they want DV because they saw. The fact that you say HDR10+ is the best, implies, there is "added value" in this technology. HRD10+ is a competitor to DV, hence based on your own logic DV does give "added value" the same as HDR10+. (1st contradiction)

If you think DV is fake, then HDR10+ and the ones promoting HRD10+ are the fakest of all (2nd contradiction). If not then by rule of elimination implies DV is real and does give value.

So logic and science both say DV and HRD10+ give added pleasure and value, and will only become more evident in the years to come.

Bashing DV and promoting HDR10+ basically says that:

1. I am not sure what I want to say

2.I do not know want I am talking about

3.I have not capability of projecting my ideas properly and politely

4. No one taught me how to respect other differing opinions.

In Summary, samsung bring on DV support, if you don't realize it, you will realize it next year when your sales take a hit.

At the end this is a consumer market and people follow trends. The sound decision for any consumer especially when coughing up a few thousand $ for a TV, that at least should serve for the next future 5 years, is to future proof your investment and ensure the fullest utilization of its capability, unhindered by anything

Hello Peter,

I just bought the QN90A and I have the Q80R and 80T and the VA panels on these TV's are insane. The nits on the QN90A are 1400 - 1800 which nuts. I think a lot of the people in the comments have regular ips panels.

I am the owner of a qn90a and a n950 sounbar, I am having problems with Apple TV 4K box, some films that are in Dolby vision are not passed in hdr this creates a problem of viewing the content, with Apple TV menus cut and image of poor quality, this does not happen with all movies, if I put dead pool, Logan or native hdr movies everything works fine, the problem also occurs on the native application of the tv if you watch the same movie that has problems on the box, on the tv the hdr will not be displayed but in sdr. I didn't have this problem on the old TV. someone noticed this. I have also enabled input plus on all devices.

On the Apple TV, set the video to 4k SDR, Chroma set to 4:4:4 and turn on Match Content for Range and Frame Rate. That will resolve the issues are you speaking of.
