Bluetooth discovery has stopped working.

I have a UN43TU7000FXZA, running software version 2501, and I have a waterproof bluetooth speaker that I use every morning in the shower.

For two years, I've turned on the Bluetooth speaker, the TV automatically detects that the speaker is on, and the TV shows a pop-up that allows me to connect to the speaker using the TV remote.

Well, three days ago, the TV stopped "discovering" the Bluetooth speaker. Nothing I've tried has fixed this, including:

• Cold-booting the TV

• Power-cycling the TV

• Deleting the Bluetooth speaker from the list of devices, then re-pairing it

• Checking for a software update (there is none)

Fortunately, I was able to take further steps:

• Since I have two of these Bluetooth speakers (the other one is typically paired to my iPhone), I tried pairing the second speaker to the TV. Same problem.

• I also have two other Samsung TVs. So, I tried pairing the speaker to a different TV. No change.

In all cases, while I'm still able to *connect* to the speaker, the issue is that the TVs no longer automatically detect the Bluetooth speaker and show the convenient pop-up. Instead, I have to dig through the menus to connect to the speaker.

What is going on? Why does the TV no longer automatically detect or discover the Bluetooth speaker when it's turned on? (Again, I have two of these speakers, and this new behavior is the same with both.)

I'm starting to wonder if a software update has broken this feature. I have auto-updates enabled. I wonder if there was an update within the last few days that broke this feature.

I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

Hi @soundsgood

We've noticed that your TV is not a UK model. Could you tell us where you're based please?

Los Angeles. I simply did a Google search for "Samsung forum," and this is one came up. There was no indication that it's UK-specific.

After posting here, I spoke with Samsung support, and they confirmed that a software update had in fact just been released (at least here in the U.S.), coinciding with the issue I'm now observing. So, it appears they've inadvertently broken Bluetooth with that update.

They say they've escalated this and will issue another update ASAP.

Thanks. For future reference, is there a U.S. Samsung forum?
