50" QN90A firmware update broke Bluetooth transmitter

I have 2 50" QN90A TV's.  I really like them.  On one of them I decided to upgrade the firmware from version 2101.2 to 2111.1.  But after doing that my Bluetooth headsets no longer work.  I have both the sonny mk4 and mk5 headsets.

On my TV running firmware version 2101.2 they work perfectly.  But on the other that just upgraded to 2111.1 they connect, then immediately disconnect and even the way it disconnects, it turns the headphones off.  Can I downgrade my TV back to the working firmware version 2101.2?  My model number is QE50QN9-AATXXU.

Does anyone have a download link for 2101.2 for UK TV's, that I can install via USB?

Sony 48" OLED A90K.  I got the two of them from Curry's yesterday.  Curry's came out and set them up for me.  One on a stand in the living room and one wall mounted in the kitchen.

So so so so so much better than the Samsung's 50" QN90A.  I mean it is hard to describe.  It took me a minute to get used to the 48" screen.  But so worth it.  OLED is jaw dropping.

Bluetooth.  You know what it just works!  I paired my mk4's to the TV in the kitchen and my mk5's to the tv in the living room.  Best bit, once pared, if you turn them on at a later stage it just connects, without having to press a stupid connect button each time.

Other big plus, if I watch a film via USB on the TV, if I tap the ear or lift the headphones off it pauses the TV!!!!

Only thing is when I turn on my samsung sound bar, the screen goes black for a second then turns back on again.  But I think I am going to solve that by buying new 4k hdmi 2.1 cables.  I only have very basic hdmi cables.

I wish I got Sony before.  They are so much better.  I was prepared that the screen would not be as bright as the Samung, but if I change the picture to vivid, it is very bright and hard to tell any difference.  Plus with being OLED, those blacks are amazing!

Just to note that the 2111 update also broke the QN900A model’s Bluetooth. Samsung has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with; they will blame you, your home, your dog, anything but admit the issue is on their end.

I have found a workaround to get my MK5s working with the TV. I first connect an old Bluetooth speaker (JBL Xtreme gen 1) that connects properly to the TV. Once it’s connected, I then connect the MK5s to the TV; it’ll ask if you want to switch, say Yes. Then, as an added measure because you can still get some clicks and pops (unrelated to this update I think, I’ve noticed this problem for a while), quickly switch the sound to TV Speaker and back to the MK5s. That’s worked for me anyway. Annoying, but works.

I am so happy with my Sony 48" A90K TV's.  Wish I had bought them instead of the Samsungs.  My MK5 and Mk4 work perfectly with them.  Plus if I am watching say something on netflix on the TV, I can use the headphone controls to pause play etc.  Very cool!

Buy Sony guys all I can say! Plus proper OLED screen instead of LCD.  I knew going in the screen was not going to be as bright as the Saumsung, OLED cant compete with backlit LCD.  But it is very very close.  I changed the picture mode to vivid and it is hard to tell the difference!  I just wish Sony did an OLED 50"

This is now a problem for owners in Australia as well.

Two nights ago my TV auto updated to the 2111 firmware and I am now no longer able to connect my Sony XM5 headphones to the TV via Bluetooth.

I get the same result as others have reported with the Bluetooth pairing, the sound locking up immediately after pairing is complete, and the headphones being powered off. No configuration changes in the Sony app changes this outcome. Samsung and Jabra headsets can connect to my Samsung TV.

The Sony headphones connect to all other devices in my house without issue except the TV after the 2111 update.

Furthermore, I am also experiencing UI performance issues on my Samsung Q90A TV after the update and it is both incredibly frustrating & disappointing.

Samsung Support: is there any update on when this will be addressed? To actively compromise a flagship device by breaking Bluetooth connectivity to your competition through a firmware update looks incredibly disrespectful to your customers.

I'm having this Issue now after updating to 2141 on my Frame 55" (2021). Exactly as described. I can't believe this is still a problem.

I decided to ditch my Sony TV's and go back to Samsung.  While Samsung Tizen is not great, the TV's are far better than Sony.  Android can't handle hdmi ports well at all.

I had the QN90a originally now I have the Samsun QN90c.  I can confirm the issue has been resolved for me.  I can now use my Sony MK5 headphones perfectly with the two TV's.

The one thing is I had to update the firmware on the headphones.  Once I did that they started working perfectly.  Been using them for the last couple of weeks and no further issues..  I have a set of Sony Mk4's while they do connect, the do not do so automatically,  you have to go into the bluetooth settings on your tv and connect them that way.

For people having issues with Sony mk5's make sure you update to the latest firmware on the sony headphones.

There is a workaround for this specific bug.

Look up "Have trouble connecting XM4 or XM5 to Samsung TV via Bluetooth? Read this!"

Thank me later.
