Q95T bug with PS5

Hello everyone,

Last December I got a Q95T and was lucky enough to find a PS5 too. The TV is incredible, however I am experiencing a very annoying issue when playing with my PS5.

After a bit of gaming, the screen suddenly drops brightness, and this happens many times during a 3 hour session.

Reading a bit online, it looks like this is a "dimming bug" that many other samsung tv owners have experienced. The problem seems to remain unsolved, even with the latest 1497 firmware.

Worth mentioning, I am not playing with Game Mode On (which would solve the problem), as the mode drastically lowers image quality and overall fluidity of movements while playing, for instance, Red Dead Redemption 2. Game Mode On is a no go for me but maybe I did not set it correctly (which I doubt, as not many setting combinations are even possible).

Does anyone have a solution to that? The TV is amazing on multiple accounts, but honestly, for a 2000 euros device I am extremely disappointed.

Thanks for reading and sharing your experience a day view on the matter :smiling-face:

I would recommend a Certified HDMI 2.1 cable to make sure the cable meets al specs.

I have to mention that I don’t think that the persistent dimming bug  will be resolved with a 2.1 cable. You only need 2.1 for -by example- earc, vrr, high end gaming and 8K. That mentioned a certified HDMI 2.1 is a good investment and more future proof.

Your link gives me a lot of HDMI cables.
But when you bought your PS5 and the cable was included in the sealed box, than it is a 2.1 version.

But don’t focus to much on the type of HDMI. The dimming bug is in my opinion not related to the HDMI 2.1 cable. I think the problem is related to HDR signals/content. So try different HDR sources/apps (Apple TV, Netflix 4K, Prime, Disney+ etc.) and see if the same problem occurs.

Hello, it's me again and unfortunately it's not a cable issue 😞
I still have the problem...

What a pity that a new cable doesn't resolve this, the next step will be a service request for your TV. Look here for more information: Samsung Reparatie: Smartphone, Tablet, TV | Samsung Nederland

Kind regards,

Martijn
