I have an A8 tablet, when you hold the power button to switch it on, you get the usual samsung start up & then it dies just as its about to load the home screen. It also wont charge & i bought a brand new charger for it to make sure. I have tried clearing any fluff etc from the charging port but still no luck. I still have over a year of payments left to make on ot so im hoping it can be saved, any ideas please? Thanks

no luck 😞 i managed to do a complete factory reset but it still wont turn on & no charging ring. Hubby thought it might be a virus causing the issue?

Tut. I'm not sure what else to suggest, sorry. It's looking more like a repair, unfortunately. Sorry, did you say you'd tried plugging directly into a working PC or Laptop. Use the cable that you have to connect between the two.

I'm intrigued. You said you did a factory reset. What method did you use considering the tablet won't boot up.

it stayed on long enough for me to select the factory reset holding down the power & volume. It seemed to say it had cleared it but it wont start up now

May of used up whatever was left in the battery. That's a shame, as was going to suggest trying the 'wipe cache partition' option from that same recovery menu. I'm not sure how much that would help though, considering you've done a factory reset, but it was worth a try.

I've seen instances where the thing just decides to take a charge, sometimes weeks after previous failed attempts. So I'm reluctant to advise you to just chuck it in the bin.
I think at this point, if no one else is following this thread and can offer any other suggestions, then your only options are
● Inspection and repair by authorised Samsung centre. This will incur a cost to you.
● Approach Sky and complain.
● Leave it for a week or two and try charging it again.
