A8 tablet wont charge or switch on

I have an A8 tablet, when you hold the power button to switch it on, you get the usual samsung start up & then it dies just as its about to load the home screen. It also wont charge & i bought a brand new charger for it to make sure. I have tried clearing any fluff etc from the charging port but still no luck. I still have over a year of payments left to make on ot so im hoping it can be saved, any ideas please? Thanks

Are you using genuine Samsung cable and charger? If you plug into a PC or laptop does it charge?

i am yes, i have tried it on my other son's A8 & the charger works fine. Its plugged into a socket rather than the PC

How long are you leaving it to charge before powering up? Do you get the charging ring at all when plugging into charger?

ive left it for 24 hours, nothing comes up on the screen when i connect the charger.

Thanks, doesn't sound good. And you're sure you're using known working, genuine Samsung cable / charger. This may sound like it needs inspection from an authorised Samsung centre. Is it still under warranty?

no its not under warranty I checked with Sky

If you're still paying for it, is it part of your subscription or a separate finance agreement. If separate finance, then you could reach out to the finance company and ask if they can step in. Otherwise, I think you'll be charged for any repair work.

However, one more thing to try. Can you perform a hard reset by holding down the power button and volume down button simultaneously for about 10 seconds.

trying not to get excited haha i did the reboot, i wasnt sure what to pick so just went for the first option just waiting now with everything crossed!
