I contacted Whatsapp support but they were very unfriendly and all I got was:
Unfortunately, this issue is out of the scope of support that Whatsapp can provide
I tried asking more details but they just neglected me and never responded again....👿

Same issue on s22 ultra. Any video be it youtube or a normal video attached in a chat plays like it's been moved up and off the screen. Landscape before playing doesn't work for me btw

Same problem on S21 FE. The only fix for now is to enter landscape mode before watching the video.

I found sort of a fix for the issue. If you are on portrait, open the video, and then switch to Landscape to see the video, the black bars show up on the bottom and sides of the video.
If you are already on landscape and open the video, the issue is not replicated. At lease this happens for me.
