S20 FE randomly restarting

Hello Samsung Community,

My phone, which is now about 4 years old, keeps restarting randomly throughout the day. For example, it might restart once at 2 AM, then again at 6 AM, 9 AM, 10 PM, and so on, without any control on my part.

Sometimes it takes a very long time to boot, or even restarts twice in a row, which is really frustrating.

Is there any way to fix this, or should I consider replacing the phone?

Hello @Istarttohatemyphone and may I extend a Warm Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum 👋

Over time a phone can pick up redundant files and apps that may clash.

There is a diagnostic test tool found in your Samsung Members App to see if that highlights anything.

Samsung Support Link > How-to-troubleshoot-when-your-phone-reboots-repeatedly.

If you perform a forum search you may find existing threads with some further help or guidence within.

Therefore I would suggest the following troubleshooting steps >

  • 1. Ensure all your apps are updated.
  • 2. Ensure your phone is updated.
  • 3. Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }
  • 4. Safe Mode  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-start-my-galaxy-device-in-safe-mode/ turns off downloaded apps and themes etc which may highlight an app or theme that's causing conflict. Alternatively long press the power off button and then long hold on Turn Off to get to Safe Mode.
  • 5. If your phone's internal storage is getting close to full this can occasionally cause issues so think about deleting unwanted apps and other data such as messages , calendar notes , music etc.
  • 5. If a phone uses a Sd Card then removing this to see if an issue stops is recommended just incase the Sd Card is corrupted.
  • 6. Back up and Factory Reset as a last resort.
  • 7. A Samsung Service Centre can assess your phone however as it is out of warranty they may charge a fee.
  • 8. Consider upgrading to a new phone as that phone will be serviced by current software updates, and security patches.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Hi, yes you may have certain files within your phone which could probably cause these random restarts. I am no expert but I have been using my S20 FE for more than 3 years now and I have never had random restarts during the day.
