Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 which I love, but I have a problem with it. The Back Button has stopped working..
I did some searches on the Internet related to the problem but they did not help..
Cleaning the Button area and restarting the phone did not cure the problem.
Suggested Fix 1: Check your settings> Go to Settings > Display and then Navigation Bar, but there is no 'Navigation Bar' entry on that screen..
Suggested Fix 2: Open Samsung Members App>Select 'Get Help' > then View Tests and then Buttons, but, there is no 'Get Help on that screen..
Suggested Fix 3 : Fix Samsung Back Button and Recent Key Not Working | How To Solve All samsung Buttons (on Youtube)
Open Phone Keypad >Enter *#2663# then select "Touchkey FW update" That did not work....
Also, since the buttons are not illuminated, and I thought this may be related to the basic problem, I looked for a solution..
Suggested Fix : From https://www.techjunkie.com/how-to-fix-galaxy-s7-back-button-not-working/
Turn on the Galaxy S7 >Go to Settings>Select Quick Settings > Select Power Saving. There is no "Quick Settings" entry.....
I am at a total loss as to how to fix the basic problem and would really appreciate any help, before I tear out what little hair I have Left !!

Could be the component for that has failed. But the chances of fixing it will be slim now. Plus the cost will be way over the value of the phone
To be honest I think you've had the best from it and maybe look for a newer model now
They were nice phones and a great form factor.

@Willum08: Please try pressing and holding the Power/Side button and selecting 'Restart' from the Power off menu that appears on screen. This will refresh the phone, and resolve any temporary performance issues.
If the problem persists, open the Phone app > Dial *#0*# into the keypad > Select 'Sub key' from the series of grey tiles, then press each button on your S7. Does the screen change colour when to press the 'Back' button?
If not then I recommend backing up your data and performing a factory data reset on your S7. For guidance on how to carry out this process, please refer to the steps in the link below.

Hello again Glenntech and AndrewL. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my Posting.. Your replies are really appreciated....
It looks like my S7 is a lost cause and I'll have to bite the bullet and get a replacement.. I really like the Galaxy S7 as I said, and since I'm a pensioner on limited income I think I'll go for a fully refurb S7 from a well known company "Back Market" who can supply several at around £98 - £119 depending on condition. My brother has a Galaxy S20 but I don't like the way you have to press the volume down and power buttons simultaneously to turn the phone off or restart, since I have a dexterity problem in my hands. The S7 only requires a single press of the power button.
Some of the suggested "fixes" which I found on the internet were really stupid! particularly Fix 1 and Fix 2 and techjunkie says "Select Quick Settings" when there is no such entry on the Settings Page! Do the people who post these comments, actually confirm that they Work ??
Once again, Thank you both and best wishes to you for Christmas and the coming year.....
