lock screen pattern

hi i have forgotten my lock screen pattern and i want to change it or turn it off but every time i try to change it the phone asks me to put the old pattern in! luckily i can still unlock the phone with my facial recognition. is there anyway i can turn off the screen pattern?

I think the only way might be to do a factory reset, you can't access the pattern settings without knowing the pattern to access them.

I should say that it might be worth adding a fingerprint too otherwise it might ask for your pattern in order to reset.
