Hi everyone, hope I'm in the correct board. I'm a novice, so please treat me gently!! I've only had my Samsung A14 5G for a couple of weeks and today I had an onscreen message telling me there was an update. I assumed it was an app update and clicked download. It was a UI update I had no idea what it was and waited while it took what seemed an age. Couldn't turn on the phone after I thought it had finished, then it began again finalising. I've now found out it's a security update. All working now, I've noticed that apps are a bit slower loading when I click on them just after starting the phone, but as soon as I've opened them once then they load instantaneously. Can anyone tell me anything more about the update, and can I expect one every month?

Yes all it is is a security update, you get one every month. With your phone being a lower down A series it will eventually turn to every 3 months but that will be a long time down the line. All it is is to protect your phone from new hacks and virus. Also you will get the new android 14 at some point, when this happens it will say and you will noticed the ui is different.

According to the Samsung security site the A14 5G now on quarterly security updates, though can be subject to change.  confirmation here https://security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb

Oh right,will be eligible for the same OS updates. Possibly it may be the August security update. You can check in Settings-About Phone-Software Information. Android security patch version is at the bottom.

Thanks a lot James. Would you by any chance know why my apps aren't automatically updating? I've got them set to automatic, but they don't update. No big deal updating manually, but I'm curious as to why it's not working.

@Strat621   Is your Device set to automatically update Apps on both Data and Wifi?  Can be issues if not strong connection or if Power saving Mode enabled.

However some customers appear to have this issue even after troubleshooting.

It's only set for wifi, should I add data? Just checking powersave.
