Unknown smart tag not found

Hi 

I have an unknown galaxy smart tag in my hand and was trying to use the smart things function for searching unknown tags. I am unable to detect unknown tags using smart things. My Bluetooth is enabled. What seems to be the issue?

Is that unknown tag registered?

Also could be you need smartthings app and smart things find to make it work.

Yes that tag seems to be registered I tried checking it by scanning nearby option in smartthings find option but it doesn't appear in the list. So assuming it, it is registered.

Settings> safety and emergency > unknown tracker alerts

Unknown tracker alert is on but not getting any alerts when moving. Is it to do with the fact that I switch off my Bluetooth?

Seems like its only for apple air tags which are compatible at the moment

That is a possibility that it needs Bluetooth and or location access to work.

So I used a Chipolo tag to try to track my son driving my car and he was alerted to an unknown device following him. My buddy got some Samsung tags and put one in my glovebox, which I was aware of, my unknown tracker notification is on and I have been driving with it for about 4 days and nothing. I did a manual scan and nothing. It appears that if you want to track someone and not let them know, Samsung hides their trackers well. My buddy knows exactly where my car is at all times. 

Anyone know why I can't find this unknown tracker?
