I found a solution to backup the media files to local storage.

Due to some strange HTML issues I can't copy the solution here.

Link for the solution

Found a workaround for this. I was also not able to share any images cropped or open pdf or documents.

Solution I found was first go to dual messenger settings in your phone settings. Select use seperate contacts list under contacts and turn on.

Force close whatsapp and reopen. Now all the files were accessible in the media section of whatsapp contacts. But you won't see contact names.

Go back to use separate contacts list then select add and select all the contacts.

Now you will be able to see the contact names too.

Let me know if this worked for any of you.
