Gear VR no longer available for One UI 4

Hi,

I am currently facing issues with my Samsung S10 phone and the Samsung Gear SMR324, which I use for my PhD work. Everything was functioning properly until the phone was updated to Android version 12. Following the update, the Gear device stopped working, and I discovered that Oculus is no longer supported.

I attempted to resolve the problem by downgrading the Android version to either 10 or 11, but unfortunately, this wasn't successful due to security constraints in Android 12. As my PhD work is dependent on these devices, I urgently need a solution. What steps can I take to address this situation and continue my research?

I previously had the Galaxy S10+ and a gear VR and they were a good solution. The VR worked well and it was quite impressive in many ways.

Unfortunately after the S10 series the VR was dropped by samsung for support and the next S20 family did not support.

Soon afterwards the Gear VR was communicated around samsung users that Oculus would no longer support apps and use of the gear VR... this was at least four years ago.

Obviously this is only a discussion forum with users... so you might want to find some contact support within samsung for the official answers.

I do not believe you will able to get this re-instated for later android. Perhaps if you look further there may be some way to reflash with earlier android and turn off updates. Someone with more knowledge would need to comment.

Android 12 was rolled out to S10 devices in December 2021... more than two years ago. Why now have you just discovered ??

Good luck with the PhD. And good luck with samsung customer service, who are known not to be the best or knowledgeable.

I would suggest if you need VR for your studies that you will need another solution... I.e. quest 2 is the later model for PC usage.
