Hi, I was keen to know the answer to this too. The liquid detergent guide on my machine looks similar to yours although I think it is different. I have a different machine model to you, WW80TA046AE/EU. Up till now I've just been using liquid detergent without the guide but decided to try it today after reading your post as it reminded me about it. The wash was fine but I struggle a bit to see the reason for the guide as the liquid still flows out as soon as you put it in, just at a slower rate. The manual has a drawing and attached are two pics of what mine looks like installed. My machine came without a manual but they are available online at Samsung.
Looking at the manual it doesn't seem to say you have to use it but it looks to me as though the implication is to use it for liquid detergent.
