One UI 7 changed contacts

My contacts have always shown my 'favorite' contacts at the top of the list. This makes it easy to quickly get to the only 5 or 6 people I actually care about :smiling-face:

After updating yesterday, it now lists 'Recently Added' contacts above the 'Favorites'. I very much do not want this! I can't see how to sort it though...any help is appreciated.  I want to keep using the Samsung contacts list, but definitely will not if I can't fix this 😮

I'm having the exact same problem. It is absolutely asinine to have to scroll through 30 "recently added" contacts before I can see my favorites or regular contact list

My screens look the same as @Scotchman99 's, and similarly changing to Recent in my call log did nothing. I've poked and prodded both settings list and I don't see any way to change this.

I do not give a wet flap who my recently added contacts are.

Hate to hear someone else has  the same issue, but at least it's not only me.  This caused me a real problem when I first noticed it...I was driving and trying to call my wife the way I always do, I know exactly where her contact is on my favorites list.  I swiped without looking and ended up calling someone I added for work weeks ago and have no need to speak to now 😮

Same thing happened here. The way I fixed for myself is to click on the "3 dots" on top right corner, "view by storage location" and changed it to phone.  If you haven't saved your contacts to your phone, you can go to the actual "contacts" app, go into settings and then "Move contact to other storage location" and choose Phone

I hope this helps!

EDIT: After doing what Brandon333 said, it appeared not to work, but later that day it randomly reverted to the way I was needing it to look, so it must have been what worked. Leaving my original comment so folks know it may take some time to show up.

Thanks for that, I appreciate the help :smiling-face:

I was able to move them to phone, and then switch between 'phone' and 'Google' for the view by storage location, but unfortunately on 'phone' it still has the 'recently added' showing at the top.  So still broken on mine 😞

It is a Google contacts issue.

Download Google contacts app.

And enable the sync device contacts

I have the same problem.  UI7 updated on my S24 yesterday.  Favorites now listed after a long list of Recently Added. Suggested solutions I've seen here don't work.

Fwiw, the Google Contacts app does not have this problem.

Samsung needs to fix their Contacts app, or make it an option to show Recently Added contacts , etc

My interim solution is to use the Google Contacts app + use the Contacts Widget for quick access to favorites.

There's a quick workaround - you can simply edit the Recently Added co tacts one by one and save it without actually making any changes. These contacts would disappear from the Recently Added section and Favourites section should then be back on top.

The same thing happened to me right after I updated. But if you click the "recent" contact then the info icon, then hit back it will remove them from the recent feild. Kind of annoying but it works.

Stop Google Contact Sync

go and see if all your Google contacts are gone on the phone

Go back to Google Contact and start sync again.

My favorites are on the top again.

I got ONE UI 7 last night and this was pissing me off.

This tip worked like a charm! Thank you! Simply edit the recently added contact and save it without making any changes and it will be gone. Samsung needs to give an option to sort by in the settings for this.
