Can't change default for new Contacts to Gmail

For some reason I cannot change the default for new contacts to my Gmail account.

When selecting my picture and contact settings, the default is vnd.sec.contact.phone

Whilst the Gmail account is shown, it cannot be selected. 

Note that I have removed all permissions for the Samsung contact App and am using the Google contact App. 

I am using a Galaxy Flip with One UI 6.1.1

They won't be able to sign into stuff in terms of passwords *don't ever share. But this seems like a case of just adding and changing your contact.
