Forced UI Changes

Hello.

I'm VERY unhappy with the latest forced update I received. I've come to terms with updates being required as it makes sure my phone is secure.

What I'm not ok with is the useless UI changes that I didn't ask for!! At least make it optional. I'm posting today to see if there's anyway I can revert at least my old UI back to the previous version. It's ridiculous! I'm having to change so many settings back. Examples as follows.

Now instead of seeing if I have a message just by looking at my locked screen, I now have to swipe down.

If I want to pull my flash light, I now have to swipe down two tabs.

My clock changed appearance for no reason at all.

My weather widget shrunk to a useless size.

I now have push feedback noises for everything now.

General appearances of almost everything is almost completely different now. While some may welcome this, others like myself don't. Make it optional!

I could go on about all the other aggravating changes made but it's too long for this post. Sure I can change a lot of the settings back but why should I even have to? I paid over $2 grand for this phone and shouldn't have unnecessary changes like these forced upon me. Security updates, cool, I'll take it. But all these other unsolicited pointless UI changes are a huge headache and an inconvenience. I use this phone for work and I have to be quick, now I struggle with the most basic of things unlike before. It seems Samsung is trying to mimic IPhone in too many ways. The first thing my wife said when she saw how notifications are displayed now is "Oh that's like IPhone now"

If I wanted an iPhone I would have bought one. Please tell me i can undo this.

Thanks.

The swipe down top menu can be changed by the way. Though as of default, if you swipe down from the top right hand side of the screen, you can enable the flash with 1 swipe 1 press. You can change the size of widgets, hold your finger on it and you should see the corners and edges can be draggable to extend it.

Base level android 16 is just more of this stuff. So it's less of a samsung thing and more of the direction android in general is going

That simply isn't possible. You can't simply revert the UI. Updates occur no matter what—whether that's Samsung or, for many of these changes, Android/Google.

For the flashlight, you shouldn't have to swipe down twice. Just swipe from the right side of the screen. You can combine it as it used to be on UI 6: swipe down, pen icon, panel settings, combine.

Customize your clock's appearance. You can get different-sized weather widgets; you can drag it.

My suggestion is downloading Good Lock—as the reality is, things will change. All phones do this. When Google (Android) makes changes, every other brand must follow.

Any suggestions I would submit to the Samsung Members app > Support > Feedback.

While that all holds true, the fact I can change (some) things back as your describing. Why is it too much to ask that changes like those couldn't simply be a pop up before or after the update stating "This update includes cosmetic changes, would you like to apply them or keep current settings?"

I think just making that side of the update optional shouldn't be a bad thing when we're already paying a substantial amount of money for them. Make everyone happy.

With how software UIs are built, I don't believe this would be possible without significant delays or possible glitched. But reality is no provider offers this so I cant imagine this request being given

In terms of cosmetics, you can go to Galaxy Themes and apply ones that look like the older UI 6.

I have no helpful advice. I hate the update too. They've even removed some functionality that remains in the core Android OS. Stay strong, life's too short and change in inevitable 🤗

I physically find it difficult to even try to find anything significantly different from OneUI 1 to OneUI 7. Impressive how you've summed up the many significant changes in just 1 iteration...

A few of your issues here have been addressed, but the lock screen messages and notifications can be changed to show. Just go to settings>notifications>lock screen notifications and change it to Cards.

It still makes the notifications harder to access. It is a bad update and if you can't see that you must be a troll.

Hmm I think it's you who's trolling if you think it's harder to see. I mean what is difficult about watching your lock screen with the notifications right in front of your face with details?

Aside from the maters already mentioned you can make a number of customisations with Good l,ock a variety of modules available. Granted you may not be able to achieve all your preferences but it can make a difference , if not already tried. https://news.samsung.com/global/exploring-good-lock-%E2%91%A0-the-ultimate-personalization-tool-disc...

Personally think that though there may be a few things that can do with tweaking I do not notice a great difference from the previous software.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
