Does anyone know about the first update for s24 series? Facing the issue of battery drain and I just want to try an update before I request for a replacement. My 90% usage are FB, WhatsApp, IG and SC. I don't play heavy games or do continuous video streaming. Facing a % drop every 5-6 mins and an overall a SOT of 6-7 hrs with social media usage. Pre Ordered phone via Samsung's website on the launch day.

I previously used smart switch and then saw recommendations of installing apps manually which I did but still not much improvement. I also have done process of cash clear through start ups.

I have moved from xiaomi 10t, I would say it was best if I compare with regards to battery. I would play games, watch videos and would last more than a day.

Keeping in view battery drain, I have put more than 90% of the aps to deep sleep, turned on extra dim brightness option, put the screen to FHD.

I mean if I have to do such things on a 1200 pounds smartphone then what's the point. Very much disappointed.

Last but not least "The customer care checked my phone online and says it's normal * pathetic experience.

The battery will still be in adaptive phase of conditioning based on usage and charging cycles. I've never worried about battery 'drain' within the first month or so of a new device due to the above plus the fact that it's period in which you'd be doing installs, setups, tweaking things.

As for software update then I'd probably guess the first would be towards the latter part of this month for factory unlocked devices and be patch fixes combined with the Feb security pack.

They've started rolling the February security patch for most phones models this week so you could expect it will come at the backend of this month.

Hi there, @Shujrah. I'd expect you to be getting exceptional battery life from your S24 Ultra, so it's important that you get to the bottom of this. In addition to what you've tried thus far, have you also tried Wiping the cache partition?

This does not erase any essential data, but it can be a very useful step after a software update has been installed on your phone (or even after you have backed up and restored data from a previous phone). The cache partition contains most of the temporary files, logs, and remembered bits from the various applications on your phone, so it is worthwhile clearing this periodically. The steps for clearing this are contained within the guide below (under the heading Clear the cache partition):

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/

Please also ensure that all of the apps on your phone are fully updated. You can do this via the Google Play Store and Galaxy Store, of course.

I also recommend allowing the phone to drop below 50% from a full charge, and uploading a screenshot of the Battery activity. To find this, just head to Settings > Battery  > View details > Scroll down to see the list of apps/processes using your battery and then take this screenshot.

Hi Paul, I have done wipe cache partition and I most of the time charge when it drops below 15%. Still facing the same low performance of battery. My all apps are up to date.

Ah, I see. That's good to know. Have you been able to pinpoint any third-party apps that seem to be consuming an excessive amount of your battery (using the steps I provided earlier)?

Some social media apps, for instance, can consume a large amount of battery (depending on settings), due to background usage, notifications, etc.

There are only 4 social apps, Facebook, WhatsApp, insta and Snapchat. With those aps an overall screen time of 6hrs. I mean that's a joke..

Thanks for this. I appreciate that it's not an exact science and the screenshot showing your Battery activity may not represent your typical use (and I know that even this can vary, of course), but the usage would extrapolate to close to 7 hrs of Screen on time. This is what you mentioned originally, of course.

You should be able to further boost your battery life when you go to Settings > Battery > Background usage limits > Utilise both Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping apps (the latter of which you have already done).

Additionally, opening up Settings > Device care > Optimise now will help keep your phone in tip-top shape (as and when needed).

Manually turning off or changing the frequency of some notifications would also help preserve battery life. You can do this on an app-by-app basis.

Social media apps will typically consume more battery life than accessing your accounts via a mobile browser, but I appreciate that this might not suit your use case.

6-7 hours sot is pretty good but the rate your percentage is dropping seems high.

Last year a big thing I found out was regarding screen brightness. If you have your screen brightness set too low it actually uses more battery, once I set it higher I was getting much better battery.

Dark mode saves a lot of battery.

Looking into routines is worthwhile, you can set your phone up soo when your on your home WiFi your phone doesn't use mobile data, this also saves battery.

You maybe be able to tweak some things to get you the full 7 hours or over.
