Navigation Bar - Now A Mess

Whoever decided to mess about with the navigation bar on the S24 should be fired.

You can't hide the hints button at the bottom now so you're stuck with a bar on screen at all times.

Even worse is the fact that the touch zones aren't in the usual spots left and right of the centre. They're god knows where because I can't see the hints, and both sides work as BACK and RECENT.

So it turns into button roulette when you press the area. And it's even worse if you have assistance turned on because then the corners activate Google Assistant.

You also can't use the buttons when the keyboard is active. So you've either got to go home or use the apps back navigation up in the top right if there's been one added.

They should have let us use the side button instead.

They should have just carried on as before. It wasn't broken. It didn't stop anything from working. It didn't stop anything new from being added.

I also like using swipe gestures and not seeing anything on the bottom of the screen (to save screen real estate).

I'm sure the good folks at Samsung are already working on this.  

To help keep things in perspective,  these are first world problems, right?  Could you imagine going back to 1970 when even digital day planners didn't exist.

Oh it's totally a first world problem. Samsung don't listen to feedback though.

I haven't purchased the phone yet so can't test but does Goodlock or maybe Nova Prime offer any relevant customisation  @neonfour

Thanks but don't want to download extra apps for functionality that existed for years and probably had no reason to be tinkered with

The 3rd option to have three lines for the navigation bar has been removed, swiping up, on the new UI. 

Is Samsung going to put it back? 

The side swipe does not work well with a screen protection cover on as fingers keep catching the the edge and I hate the always on buttons!

I miss the swipe up gesture already 😩

I agree that the screen protector is smaller than the actual screen, and it is really annoying to us side swipe.
I might use the phone without the screen protector
