Navigation Bar - Now A Mess

Whoever decided to mess about with the navigation bar on the S24 should be fired.

You can't hide the hints button at the bottom now so you're stuck with a bar on screen at all times.

Even worse is the fact that the touch zones aren't in the usual spots left and right of the centre. They're god knows where because I can't see the hints, and both sides work as BACK and RECENT.

So it turns into button roulette when you press the area. And it's even worse if you have assistance turned on because then the corners activate Google Assistant.

You also can't use the buttons when the keyboard is active. So you've either got to go home or use the apps back navigation up in the top right if there's been one added.

Why has the gesture replacement for the old android buttons been removed? 

It was a great way to navigate and removed the ugly buttons from the screen giving more space for content. The new navigation is awful. The bar is ugly and can't be made invisible, it takes longer to access the multitasking menu and the swipe from the side to go back interferes with so many apps, I'm always accentally swiping to reply or bring out a side menu, one website was impossible to leave as it just went to the next article every swipe instead of going back. 

Why remove the choice to have the old navigation option which was the best of both current options? 

Please think about giving us this option back. The fact its still in good lock but can't be activated is infuriating.

Also with swipe typing enabled you can't use the keyboard and go back at the same time unless you use both hands to hold the phone and swipe in above the keyboard. It's so useless

I've been using the swipe navigation for years and not liking this change but Samsung wouldn't be bringing it back.

This new navigation gesture is the same as the iPhone navigation, which is Samsung's main goal...to become apple.

UPDATE ON THIS AS OF 30.01.2024

This change causes lots of problems. The majority of the left and right sides of the screen become touch zones now. Any apps that require you to swipe close to the edge may not respond correctly as it may trigger a back action than the intended one.

It's crazy how Samsung can just remove such a fundamental aspect of One UI, that people have been using for years. It's not entirely Samsung's fault though, this change was also forced by Google. Especially Google, they make business by selling ads, and don't really care about customer feedback or different ways their products are used.

Fortunately good people making Goodlock /  Navstar enable us to still have an option for three swipe up gestures. Just install and you will get that option back in Display settings. Yay.

Activated though Good lock Navstar app. We have it back! Thank you samsung for listening to what your users want.
(Just to add I've been using navstar since getting the phone and the update to enable the old navigation style seems to have only come out today, 31.1.24)

Downloading two additional apps to replace functionality that has been there for years is a work around. And a long winded one at that.

Thanks for pointing out the module! Had to use module in the past to allow multiple audio apps at once (windowed youtube while I also play a game).

I was unable to play Hatsune Miku because of the Home button gesture in Landscape mode is right where you need to flick music notes upwards and it was constantly exiting the game.

Having instant app selection window back feels so nice after the hit-or-miss slow way of pulling up and holding. I sort of miss the side swipe back which made website navigation a little nicer... but I'd rather have a usable interface.

Same thing, I want to back:

3 lines for the navigation bar (1 line sucks) - especially with the original protective film, which is sold separately.

to make set default camera resolution when it reopen.

Just because of this little thing I thought why did I buy the phone on pre-order

I installed Goodlock and not find any useful options
