Bring back the 3-position gesture navigation bar! #usability #navigation #android

On the S24, they've made a change to the navigation gesture bar. The old 3-position bar (swipe up for app drawer, home, back) has been replaced with a single bar in the middle that goes home. To go back, you have to swipe in from the sides, and opening the app task drawer is not as straightforward.

I believe it would be beneficial if they provided the option to have the three separate gesture navigation options back. This would allow users to choose the navigation method that they prefer and are most comfortable with. Galaxy S24 Ultra . Galaxy S24+ . Galaxy S24

Thank you!! I got my s24 today and was immediately baffled that the gestures had to be different. I tried to adjust but it annoyed me quite a bit. Glad it works, but makes me worry for the future that we will be forced to change. Anyway, thanks for the fix!

I AM SO HAPPY IT'S NOT ONLY ME! This thing is extremely annoying. Why would you change such an integral part of the UI so suddenly. This iPhonysh style is disgusting and is making me feel like my grandpa trying to figure out how to get out of an app. I am even considering returning the phone solely because of it. It's really disgusting! Give us back the old swipe navigation bar!

The old gestures have been put back now, go into goodlock, nav star, enable more gestures, and go back to  nav settings and you can get the old one back. They just need to let us disable gesture hints now

Old navigation felt much better. I hope they reintroduce it as a standard option instead of the goodlock navstar work around

Thanks, but I am not installing some god-knows-what third party APK just to get the stupid thing to do what it used to. That's unacceptable from Samsung, to do such a major change in navigation and take away our options for customisation.

Hello everyone,

I just got my S24 ultra and this gesture thing just sucks.

The problem is Goodlock s not available on the galaxystore for me (Romania). I've downloaded the apk file from a 3rd party website but it is not working.

Can anyone help?

I fully agree. I come from a Note10+ and I am lost. I think buttons waste screen space, but I can't get how slow it is to go to the multitask. It's horrendous. Should I return it ?

Try swipe from sides with Samsung short dumb screen protector and their dumb short cases. Everytime your finger will get stuck on the edge of the screen protector.

Bring back swipe from bottom, almost nobody cares about AI.
