Hi there peeps.

I've just a 1gig broadband fitted in my house. If I do a speed test my only get around about 750meg ish for my download speed. Now if I do I speed test on my iPhone I get 1 gig download speed. So are Samsung capping WiFi speeds ?

Hi @MaNiAx

I'm not so sure they are.

It's viable that different phone's can show different results 🤔

WiFi speed tests can be affected by a few things i.e what's already connected and Wi-Fi channels and any congestion etc.

I'm with Bt Full Fibre.

This is mine.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

It's a false economy when you test Internet speed. The top speed it achievable in a vacuum with no other devices on and when your Internet connection has a contention ration of 1:1

Most home Internet even fibre is contended which mean you sharing that circuit with others and in a perfect world should get top speed.

I would argue that internet speed presented by Samsung or Iphone are not accurate

Even with just a router connected you lose speed, so to say you get 1gb is not accurate as you lose bandwidth through the physical cable be it copper or fibre

Yes test speeds can vary a lot and should only be a rough guide as they even vary between various test sites and apps etc. A lot of people misunderstand the 1gb connection to and don't realise 1gb broadband is actually around 125 megabytes ps as network speeds are calculated in bits which are around 8x smaller than bytes.

Well after week of testing with different phones all of them show 1.0 gig on a speed test but the Samsung galaxy s23 ultra always fell short. Even the s22 pulls 1.0 gig so it does look like Samsung are throttling the WiFi speeds on the s23 ultra.

Noticed the same and I can't figure out why. Definitely isn't a router setting.

I'm on 1gig with virgin and can only pull just under 800 as you can see. If I use my iPhone I get 1gig. If you look at other posts other people have the same problem. Screenshot_20230930_173049_nPerf.jpg

Does your router support WiFi 6E? If not, that might affect the speeds you get.
