S23 ultra video sound quality?

Hi folks, hope all is well.

I recently upgraded to the s23 ultra and found that the sound quality when taking videos isnt the best? i dont know why this is. nothing is covering the mic and i clean my phone regularly (not a proper clean) so it surely cant be this? does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Hey @UNKNOWNUSERNAME.

Does this happen across all apps (or only when you use the Camera app)? Are you having sound issues during phone calls too?

Hi there, as far as im aware the sound quality on my end is fine for calls, i can also hear the other person totally fine. i seem to notice that the sound quality in videos is bad on snapchat/samsung camera.

I'd like you to try updating the apps that you're having an issue with by opening the Play Store > Tap on your profile icon (top right) > Manage apps and device > Updates available > Make sure the apps are updated by tapping on the Update option (next to each app).

Hi, i did this and the issue is still happening, it sounds very muffled which is quite frustrating for the price of this device.

Hello @UNKNOWNUSERNAME. I got my first S23 Ultra when the device was released a year ago now. Like yours, it had muffled very poor audio on recorded video. This problem was noted by some YouTube reviewers when first testing the device. I contacted my supplier, EE, and told them over the phone what the problem was. They immediately told me that this issue was a recognised problem on some devices, and that I would be sent a replacement device within 48 hours. My replacement was exchanged at my door for my defective device, and this replacement had no such audio problems in recorded video. It also had better Wifi reception and a better (cleaner) display.
My advice to you is to push for a new device armed with my information that this is a recognised problem with a few S23 Ultra handsets. I hope you end up with a much better device as I did. Good luck to you.

Hi there i bought my s23 ultra directly from samsung, how do u think id go about doing what u did if i bought from them directly?

Edit: i also recieved my device a month and 5 days ago, if this makes a difference.

I would contact them as soon as possible, and politely put your issue to them and request a replacement handset. I would emphasize that you now know this is an established fault with some S23 Ultra devices. Please feel free to mention me and my reply to you should the need arise.

Edit: You may be out of your replacement timeline, so see what they say. You can at least push for a repair.
