Just have a quick question regarding my s23 ultra.

I've had this phone since launch last year, so it's probably just about a year old. I've only noticed today that is makes a rattle sound, when shook.

I didn't shake it on purpose I picked it up and thought 'oh what was that noise' then shook it slightly and it appears to be the phone. Is this cause for concern??

Wondering if it has always been there as I googled something and it mentioned image stabilisation, but for the life of me I'd have noticed this rattle at any point in the past year, I seem to notice it now every time I pick the phone up, so makes me think something is not right? Or is broken inside??

Any ideas? 😞
Thanks in advance 🫶🏻

No it will always have done this.
It's the camera inside. When it's not activated, the lens will move around freely.
It's for the optical image stabilisation.
Most phones with large sensors do this including the iPhone
It's best not to shake it too vigorously in case it causes any problems

My s23 ultra is exactly the same and the reason being as Glenntech said. I have noticed over the months the rattle happens alot easier now and very occasionally it will click when I move zoom lens but it doesn't effect the phone so it doesn't bother me.

Inside the Galaxy S23 Ultra, there is a component that functions as OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) that minimises shaking when taking pictures with the camera. If this small part is shaken while the camera is not in operation, it may hit the internal structure and make a slight rattling sound.

OIS is a function that detects hand shaking and corrects the lens by moving the lens in the opposite direction of the shake. Due to the different OIS sizes for each product, the sound may be relatively loud depending on the product. This is due to the characteristics of the OIS and it is not a product defect. The sound does not affect the function and performance of the mobile phone.
