Quite suddenly I am unable to pay contactless with my phone.

First thing I would try is go to settings > security and privacy > updates. Make sure software and Google play system is up to date. Update all apps in the playstore and galaxy store.

I suggest to check for updates first like @Fiona26 mentioned.

Now is there any chance you unlocked developer options in settings, or flashed your device? If no you could go to settings > apps > Google wallet storage clear cache and data and see if that helps you can remove and re-add card as well.

Make sure all the details like address is up to date.

Also it could be due to unusual payment, foreign payments, transfers, unusual behaviour that bank might flaged, then you would need to speak with customer service.

Have you tried clearing cache and data from both wallet and Google play store? And then restart your phone?

Open the Google Play Store app

Tap your profile icon in the top right

Tap Settings

Tap About to check if your device is Play Protect certified

I have yes. I can't seem to find any solution online either, all keep sending me in circle

If that doesn't work try go to settings > apps search for Google play services tap on it 3 dots in corner uninstall updates then restart your phone

Never use a public Wi-Fi network when paying for something, rather use a mobile network.

Message on your screen says that you rooted your phone. In that case banking apps will stop working
