Media cuts out when screen off

For some reason when I use certain apps to play video/music on my s23 and then lock my phone, after 2-3 minutes the video/music stops. This for apps like YouTube (premium) and TuneIn radio. As soon as I unlock the phone it starts playing again. Samsung music and Spotify seems to work fine. Multiple apps are affected in the same way so it's not just an issue with YouTube.

I've changed app battery settings for individual app to never stop running in the background but that didn't help. Also checked the apps were not on list of sleeping apps.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Final update: After much umming and aahing, figured it out... I had duckduckgo app tracker blocking enabled. When I switch it off, the problem goes away. DDG do say enabling for YouTube can create issues but I totally forgot about that. Thanks for all the help and sorry for taking your time on this when the problem was caused by me! Hopefully this might help other in the future at least

Mine done this a while ago, although I can't remember how I fixed it, only came up on YouTube and it fixed itself.

Go to settings > Apps > YouTube > battery, make sure its on optimised or unrestricted. If it's on restricted it will not run in the background while phone is idle. Do the same with you other apps you wish to run in background.

It's because you keeping locking your phone as it thinks you have closed the apps and finished your session.

It appears to be a core battery saving feature @robablob  🤔

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Thanks. As I mentioned in my post, I've already tried that

That doesn't really make sense as other apps like Samsung music work fine with the screen off. Also, before upgrading to s23, my old s22 started doing this a couple of months ago for Apple music.app. I thought it was the app but now I'm thinking there is some android or one ui update that is causing this

I think it's just a glitch and try restarting your phone

Or the apps aren't compatible

@robablob: While I understand that this is affecting certain media apps and not others, please can you try heading to Settings > Lock screen > Widgets, and make sure that 'Music' is toggled on. Furthermore, head to Settings > Apps > Select an affected app e.g. YouTube Music > Mobile data > Allow background data usage > Back > Appear on top > On
