Add a contact

This never really worked well with my S8, no surprise it doesn't work at all with my new S22. When I dial a number manually or receive a call I'd sometimes like to create a new contact with that number. This was difficult on the S8, seems to be impossible on the S22. Selecting and holding the number does nothing except pull up the trashcan. Opening contacts does nothing, apparently this wasn't considered in the design.

Any help would be appreciated!

In case you didn't know this has nothing to do with saving contacts. You don't need to enable anything and it should just work asyou said. The OP may have ran into some sort of bug but that notification option doesn't have any effect on the functionality they were experiencing issues with. They are completely unrelated. At least it fixed itself in the end.

I intermittently get the same issue as OP on my A32 5G. Solution is to restart phone.

exactly the same for me. the add contacts option does not appear regardless of what i do. there is no option to click or select or hold down or anything. all i see is the delete option. really nothing else is there

@garyinspain: To add a contact who has recently called you, please open the Phone app > Select the 'Recents' tab > Tap on a number > Add to contacts.

Andrew - i guarantee that this does not work. ive tried when i go to recents tab - the add to contacts does not appear, thats why im on this post . tbh im giving up and im just going to add the contacts manually. thanks anyway

This worked for me: Opened "apps" and turned "allow notifications" for the contacts app, did a restart. It now works: Press the number in the "recents" list and I get the option to save the number in contacts

My experience here is, people will continue to INSIST that there is an "add contact" option in plain sight, you just can't see it. Super helpful! I've found from experience with Samsung phones that they have many more or less hidden options which if not set correctly will disable some features, or make the phone behave weirdly. I can currently save contacts sometimes; when I cannot a restart allows it.

Contasts always had notifications allowed.  Still cannot add contact to recent phone number by tapping on it.
