Hey Everyone,

1st time posting here and hoping to get some help. My Samsung S22+ is having issues playing my google play purchased movies. If the movie is not in 4k then it will play on my phone. If the movie is offered in 4k then it will not play, this is the patern I have noticed by troubleshooting. I purchased these movies and under my account so no reason why they would not be playing.

I have tried clearing the apps cache and data, that doesnt work. I have uninstalled Google TV, then reinstalled and that doesn't work.

Anyone have any ideas what is causing this and how to fix?

Thanks in Advance.

I'm not the one who's moaning I don't particularly care about playing a movie in 4k on such a small screen. Also if its auto playing how do you know its in 4k and not in a format that the phone can do ie HD.

Maybe you could do a screen recording so we can see that your selecting the playback to be in 4k prior to playing a 4k movie in the Google TV app.

Your not going to get play movies to play anything. Play movies is long gone. Everything from play movies has been moved to YouTube. Your using the wrong app for it. You need to play the movie via YouTube

Yes yes it's called Google TV now same app different name and I'm fully aware they play in YouTube aswell.

Both apps auto play the movies just not in 4k as you have to manually select 4k and they dont play, auto play in both apps is in HD.

Also you can't download the movie to your phone in 4k the max definition is HD.

I don't need to prove anything my s22 plays videos from Google TV and YouTube yours does not. Yours has the issue mine. I told you the fix but you decide not to use the fix. Reset your phone then.

Thanks for all the suggestions I just did a full factory reset and then fresh install NOT importing any apps from back up. All fresh installs and same thing. Movies that are ONLY Full HD will play. if the movie shows it supports up to 4k the it will not play. this is through the Google TV app which replaced play movies so I went beyond removing google account from phone and adding back. Full factory reset setting up as new devices and doesn't work.

I cant speak as to if this is just on the S22+ model but that is the one I have on tmobile.

Any ideas? Any samsung support people here that have a fix?

Thanks again everyone
