The battery on my Galaxy s22 purchased February 2022 has expanded and the back of my phone has started to come away. I'm aware my warranty has expired but I believe this is a fault of samsung. My phone is in mint condition otherwise. Ive also read on forums that a lot of people using the galaxy s22 have had this problem. Is this a common problem?i was planning on purchasing the Galaxy s25 but now I'm having second thoughts. Where do I get this fixed? Will I be charged? I'm based in north london

I hate to say it but this is a known thing that happens with some samsung devices. Mr whose the boss is a youtuber who has collected every samsung phone they ever made. Most of them have bulged backs with battery expansion.

I'm not sure what causes it myself but I can only hope it's been fixed in newer models. We don't want a note 7 again. My s22 is fine. I don't personally know of any devices that have done this. But I know it happens with some devices.

Oh and you can get it fixed at a samsung store. Or at a local third party repair shop. I personally would say there's no way it's user error so maybe argue with samsung and they might just repair it for you

To be clear
The phones that did do this were phones that were not used. It's recommended to every now and again turn the phone on and use it.
Batteries are really not ment to be kept flat and installed in devices for long periods.
I've seen others with other manufacturers like Google have this.
My old Galaxy Note FE that it some years old now is perfectly fine as I turn it on at times and keep the charge around 50%

We can't answer here if you'll be charged or not @haxstar

Let a Samsung Service Centre assess your phone and they'll advise.

Batteries do expand. All you can do is to take to a service centre or any phone repairer to have it replaced. The cost is down to you since it will be out of warranty by now.
