Hi everyone,

I’m posting because the boot loop issue after the One UI 6.1 update is clearly widespread, and I want to gauge just how big this problem really is.

Is anyone else dealing with a bricked Galaxy S22 or a constant boot loop since the update? I keep seeing new posts about it almost every day.

My phone was working perfectly fine before the update. After installing it, it suddenly stopped working. Now, it’s stuck in a boot loop, and on the rare occasion it gets to the home screen, it crashes and starts looping again.

I’ve tried everything Samsung suggested: clearing the cache, factory resets—you name it. Nothing worked. I even had a Samsung repair tech come to my house. They suggested my motherboard needs to be replaced but refused to fix it under warranty because of a small, superficial crack on my screen (which can barely even be picked up by a camera).

This hairline crack has been there for over a year. It has nothing to do with the motherboard issue, and my touchscreen is working perfectly fine.

What’s even more frustrating is seeing countless others on Reddit, Samsung forums, Twitter, and beyond reporting the same problem—yet Samsung keeps denying responsibility and is shifting the blame onto the consumer.

If Samsung wants to argue that my phone’s reboot loop is caused by a tiny screen crack, then what about everyone else? What about all the other phones with the exact same issue across the globe with 0 screen and cosmetic damage - and the numerous motherboards they’ve already replaced?

The pattern is obvious: this update has caused widespread failures and they are now charging for repairs wherever possible. I even have logs showing the update in question followed by recovery reboots immediately afterward.

It’s outrageous that a £1300 phone has failed in 23 months, and Samsung’s response is a £500+ repair quote for a phone which is laughably now only worth ~£400 brand-new.

That said, I’d really like to hear from others, especially those in the UK but also worldwide, about how you’re handling this situation.

If your phone is out of warranty, you’ve been denied a warranty claim, or you’re experiencing this issue, please share your story. Adding your voice helps build a stronger case and puts more pressure on Samsung to finally take responsibility for this widespread problem.

P.S. If you’re experiencing this issue, and have read this far down - clicking “I have this problem too” under the title of this post may help raise awareness

I'm in the same boat. Samsung successfully changed my mind to move to the other side. Awesome! Worst experience. I lost so many memorable pictures, videos, very important documents etc. Lost trust in this brand.

Same exact thing happened to me. S22 ultra on T-mobile carrier. Updated Thursday December 12th, Phone started freezing and rebooting. Friday it automatically reset to factory settings losing all my pictures since I didnt back it up. I wiped cache partition and nothing helped. Some days it would just be in a reboot loop all day. Every time I try to open an app it freezes and reboots. Eventually I got a pop up that said service update needed clicked ok and it reset factory settings again for the second time. No help from samsung they told me to take it to the closest authorized samsung dealer (UbreakIfix) but they couldnt even get to run the diag test because it would just keep freezing and rebooting. My phone is in brand new condition, not a scratch, I had a full water proof outterbox on it since day 1. The second after the update my phone has been broke, Lagging, freezing, cant take picture, cant even connect my galaxy watch 6 without shutting the phone down. Which it also reset my watch. I got another update on Friday the 20th but it was no help, no improvement. This is horrible and 100 percent caused from an update.

Oh my gosh! I had this problem too! 3 days ago, my S22 Ultra just froze and entered the boot loop for no reason. I didn't even dropped it or anything. My phone has no cosmetic defect and I have never dropped it! I tried every fix I could find on YT and the only thing that worked for A WHILE was putting my S22 in the freezer. Then it will be out of the bootloop and I can use it again for awhile. Until I use it for a few minutes then it will enter bootloop again. IT WAS SOOO FRUSTRATING!!!

It was definitely the SOFTWARE UPDATED because a couple of months back of software update, my Samsung camera became VERY BLURRY that I had to download a 3rd party HD CAMERA in order to have a clear shots. Samsung's native camera suddenly was blurry after that update. Fast forward to the latest update, my phone suddenly entered bootloop! What else could have caused this but the software update!!!!

I went to AT&T and claim from insurance but I still need to pay USD275  for me to get a refurbished S22 and I need to give my phone back. This is ludicrous but what choice do I have?! My only choice was early upgrade by paying USD400+++ and paying a higher phone plan again! No way! So I bit the bullet and went for the insurance.

I hope Samsung will be responsible to acknowledge this failure!!!!
