My Samsung S22 has become extremely slow and glitchy since I updated to One UI 6. Apps are slow, keep crashing and flicker green pixels as shown in the screenshot. The issue affects all apps, even just browsing phone settings, unlocking home screen etc.

Things I've tried so far:
  • OneUI home update from Samsung store
  • Clearing cache partition
  • Factory reset (was hoping this would revert to UI version I had when I bought the phone so I could try reinstalling 6 but it kept current version)
  • Turning off RAM Plus
  • Changing frame rate to 60 Hz
  • Safe mode
I have sent an error report to Samsung but wondering if there's anything else I can try while waiting for their response?

Hey there

First things first, if you haven't done one recently then please perform a Wipe Partition Cache on your device.

This will clear a number of temporary files but will not delete any of your data.

This has been known to fix some (and in some cases all) of the issues users are reporting.

1. Turn off the device.
2. Connect To Compute, Press and hold the Volume Up key and then press and hold the Power key
3. When the Android logo displays, release all both keys.
4. Wait until the Android system recovery menu options appear.
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
6. Press Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
9. Press the Power key to restart the device.
You can also Repair apps via the Recovery Menu.

One UI 6 is pretty broken tbh, and Wipe Cache Partition does work but it's still buggy in some places

Agreed, whilst my device has been broadly ok (S23U) it has had a few issues with slow speeds and other bits and bobs. The wipe partition fixed much of it for me but it hasn't been a great update from Samsung or Google.

Thanks for the reply! I've already tried this and it did nothing. Ideally, I'd want to try rolling back to the previous release and reinstalling 6, but don't know if there's a Samsung approved way of doing it

I understand rolling back is not an option in afraid.

Consider resetting the device and starting over. I have S22+ and I have reset my phone. It is working well after the reset.

I've done a factory reset but that didn't help - unless there'sa way to reset the phone without keeping the current UI version? The phone was glitchy straight after factory reset, even before I restored any backed up data

Hope One UI 6.1 (or EVEN 7.0) will have actual HYPED changes and optimisation and bug fixes
