Fast Wireless charging not working on S22 Ultra

Hi Samsung,

Received Exynos 2200 S22 Ultra 512 GB variant not long ago. The #Fast Wireless Charging# on it is not working. I am using a 15W fast wireless charger that works with other Samsung and Huawei smartphones.

It shows #Fast Wireless Charging# for a second and then reverts back to normal wireless charging. I have been in touch with a Samsung expert through online chat and I was asked to clear the cache from the recovery menu, which did not make a difference. Then I was asked to back up my data and reset the phone to factory settings. Unfortunately, that did not resolve the issue.

Since the phone came out, there are two updates sent over the air but they did not address this issue. The representative told me if resetting the phone does not solve the issue then I would require repair/replacement.

I am leaving a post here as in my little understanding, I believe it is a software issue and a software patch should resolve it. Just to mention, Fast and Superfast cable charging works just fine.

Is anyone having the same issue?

Well....I dug out my wireless duo that I got given a few years ago with my GW I think, anyway after finding the correct power brick, I powered it up and left my s22U on it.

Had no issue with fast charging and everything was fine, even charged my watch at the same time

Are you using Samsung wireless charging pad or third party?

It is not Samsung fast charger but a third-party 15W fast wireless charger that is fast charging previous Samsung and Huawei smartphones, which made me wonder why not S22 Ultra.

It is connected to a 45W power brick, but the wireless charger itself limits to drawing 15W.

I think the 15w limit may not be able to produce enough juice regardless of what power brick you use.

I don't think it's a software issue but power limitation

Don't quote me though

Sure, I understand what you mean. However, I have a 15 W and a 45 W charging brick, tried both with the same result, i.e., normal wireless charging. Still, other phones are fast charging wirelessly, maybe I will have to try/buy a different wireless charger.

We have three S22 Ultras having this exacting issue with 3rd Party 15 Watt charger.  I believe it must be a software glitch and came here looking for answers as well.  Once I stick it on the charger, it begins looking as though it's charging but then quickly pauses wireless charging.  I discovered in the settings I could toggle off "Fast Wireless Charging", as it does not step down automatically when the fast charging pauses. Then, it charges wirelesssly but it's at the slower rate, whatever that may be.

Seems the Snapdragon variant also has issues with wireless charging, since I'm experiencing this here in NZ too. Xiaomi charger capable of deliving 15W wireless charging with a 30W PD supply, and fast wireless charging keeps flicking back and forth between fast and standard. Turned off fast wireless charging in battery settings but even standard wireless charging still cuts out then kicks in again. Seems the phone is trying to draw too much power as the led on the charging stand will dim before it drops out only reconnect immediately, repeating this cycle over and over. Using an official Samsung case, and never had this problem on the S21 Ultra. Hopefully this is a software bug that can be addressed.

After try try trying with my case on, it's worthy of mention that I took the case off and experienced the same issue with a naked phone.   Of everything I read in looking for answers online, one possible reasoning I came across is somebody saying the charger itself needs to be Qi Certified.  I was actually tying to use Magsafe Charger with my Samsung but that shouldn't have made any difference, at least I didnt think so.  I think perhaps though with a Qi Certified charger though, the phone can somehow tell its not up to standard as expected by Samsung.   It's all about heat and preventing damage to the phone from Samsungs perspective I think.  As for Magsafe chargers, the only one I could find Qi Certified for my vehicle was a Scosche branded one and it was prohibitively expensive IMHO.  I've given up at this point.  Maybe I'll try again in several months or if somebody posts here that the issue is resolved by a software fix or otherwise.   I returned the charges I purchased.  Good luck everybody.  Let me know if you are successfully able to fast charge.

S22 Ultra does not like Samsung's own Trio Wireless Charger either!

Charging with the phone means the charge circle remains on the screen the whole duration. I think the phone is unable to regulate charge and wireless charging alignment on some charging devices (including Samsung's own).
