android system: No show "USB for transferring files"

I upload my videos and pictures every couple of months and yesterday out of nowhere when I plugged my phone into my mac airbook as I normally do, I no longer get the notification to transfer files. I even tried Windows laptop just in case but still nothing. I need to transfer storage 😫. 

I checked developer options, the usual usb debugging and the default usb configuration is always transferring files but still nothing, I tried different cables but it's not the cables because my partner's Samsung phone connects fine.

Has this happened to anyone this month?

Another user had reported this issue. One workaround is to transfer files to SSD/Pen drive and then connect the SSD to your mac.

Apparently Android File Transfer is no longer compatible with Catalina version 10.15.7.  Anyway this user is going to try transferring files to the SSD  and if not successful will transfer them to Google Drive.
