How come some of your text messages on samsung messages are allowed to covert to chat messages to show they are typing ,  show they have read the text and delivered then some you can only have text message delivery reports its been delivered ??

this feature is only available for those contacts that have a Samsung phone too, which is why this is only working for some contacts.

The messages you're referring to are known as RCS (Rich Communication Services) to be able to send them depends on a number of factors

1. You must have an app that supports RCS (Google Messages, Samsung Messages etc)

2. Your carrier has to support RCS Messaging

3. The recipient must have an app that supports RCS Messaging

4. The recipient's carrier must also support RCS Messaging

if both you and the recipient supports RCS Messaging you'll see a blue dot next to their contact picture (like the one shown in the attached image)

i have a friend with the blue dot but every message last 24 hours has been sms rather than chat and no idea why.
