Shut the phone down and try to clean the port. There'll be guides online on how to do it correctly. Try to get as much moisture out as possible, maybe even just leave it for a day to evaporate.

There have also been reports of people getting this message without spilling water on their device. Assuming you actually did get your phone wet

Yes, it's because of wetness or water in the charging port. Better dry that area and double-check your charger cable before using it.

The best option would be: 1. Stop using your device; 2. Do not charge it. It will dry out eventually, but charging it will damage your port.

Turn your phone off and clean it. Leave it for 24–48 hours in a dry environment. Ensure your charger is also dry and free from moisture.

Do this carefully, but you can also use a hairdryer on low heat to dry the ports—it is better to do so on low heat for a longer period, as higher heat may damage the device.

*I see you asking this. There is no special setting for clearing the port "like iPhone," though that is normally for speakers, not the charging port. The phone will be fine and does not need a specific setting enabled if you follow my advice above.

Bit late, sorry, but I've got a53 as well. The phone showed the error after I was listening to music while in the bath once, and I just used a hairdryer on the coolest setting about 6 ,8 inches away and worked , there was no actual water in the charging port
