This morning's ui8 update has left me without a phone as now the Sim is no longer detected.

I haven't had anything helpful from Samsung. They wanted me to try reinstalling throught smartswitch from a computer, but I couldn't get it to work. I finally tried a factory reset. I can now access the sim again so its definitely their software.

Can you confirm which version you have since factory reset, please ?
I, and many others , have tried a factory reset and it just downloaded ui8 again causing the sim detection problem .
Maybe Samsung are no longer pushing ui8?

Fyi GiffGaff have apologized and offered full refund for both my A53s.

Mine is a Galaxy S21 FE. It does say update pending, which I am now too scared to do!

Just to clarify then, you went back to Giffgaff with the argument that they sold you an American spec A53 which is now unfit for purpose and they eventually offered a refund?
I'm in the same boat, bought from Giffgaff, no inclination at all I was getting anything other than a UK spec device.

Just received latest Samsung update. No change, still have no network. Ordered a brand new 5G sim from Giffgaff, no change. Going on for 3 weeks now with a redundant phone I'm still paying for.
GET YOUR FINGER OUT SAMSUNG THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE
