Hi everyone,
I’m currently using the Samsung Galaxy A54 (5G) and recently updated to the latest software version (One UI 6.1). Ever since the update, I’ve been facing a couple of issues:
Overheating – The phone heats up quickly, especially during normal use like browsing, YouTube, or using Instagram.
Battery Drain – The battery percentage drops faster than usual, even when the phone is idle.
Things I’ve tried:
Cleared cache from recovery mode
Put apps to sleep
Disable background activity for heavy apps
Factory reset (but the problem still exists)
Is anyone else facing this issue after the latest update?
Any suggestions or fixes would be really helpful.
Thanks!

Hi @stussy11
Thank you for reaching out and for providing detailed information about the issue you're experiencing with your Galaxy A54 5G following the One UI 6.1 update.
I'm sorry to hear about the overheating and battery drain concerns. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially after performing troubleshooting steps like cache clearing, limiting background activity, and even a full factory reset.
Software optimisation period
After a major update, your device may undergo a brief optimisation period, during which background processes such as indexing or app reconfiguration can temporarily increase battery usage and heat generation. This can take up to 5–7 days to stabilise.
Check for App Compatibility
Some third-party apps may not yet be optimised for the latest One UI version, which could contribute to performance issues. Please check the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store for updates to your frequently used apps.
Diagnostics via Samsung Members App
Open the Samsung Members app > Tap Support > Tap Phone diagnostics > Run diagnostics. This can help identify if there's a hardware-related concern.
Battery usage review
Go to Settings > Battery > Usage since last full charge. Look for any abnormal battery-consuming apps. You may consider uninstalling or restricting them further.
Safe Mode testing
Restart your device in Safe Mode (press and hold Power > then tap and hold “Power off” > select “Safe Mode”) and monitor performance. If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode, a third-party app may be the cause.
