Update 2023/2024/2025: *This header message is updated regularly*
Problem can be reproduced 100%. The problem ALWAYS occurs after 9 to 10 days of system runtime. The problem was observed on 5 of 5 6 of 6 Galaxy A14 devices, purchased at different times, no other models testet yet. (A12 tested, see page 5), My Device has already been sent for service once.... See page 3 for experience. The cause for the Problem is unclear. Strong indication that it affects at least the entire Samsung Galaxy A14 model series. Samsung currently seems to be in contact with manufacturer of components to find the cause.
According to Samsung, the problem has been fixed and there is a specific date/time when the update will take effect. Read last Page.
Hello community,
I've had a new Samsung Galaxy 14 smartphone for about 5 weeks and I noticed something strange about the battery consumption. Doesn't have to be a problem, but I find it very unusual. FIRST I would like to mention that I practically do not use the smartphone. It's on my desk 24/7 and I only use it a few minutes in the evening to log into my bank account. That's why I automatically activated the flight mode 23 hours a day using the Samsung routine/modes. The smartphone is set to maximum battery economy. I use my old smartphone for everyday use.
(Edit: Clarification from 09/2024: The problem is NOT related to the flight mode, wifi or seems related to anything else, it happens after 9-10 days of system runtime)
This is why the following picture bothering me now:
-Significantly increased consumption in the last few days, for no apparent reason. This is the second discharge process since I had the device, the behavior was not observed during the first discharge process from my point of view. Update: I have currently charged the device back to 80% and now the battery still seems to be discharging relatively quickly. Yesterday 11 p.m. 80%, today 3 p.m. 74%
-The room temperature was about 2-3 degrees warmer in the last few days, but that shouldn't explain the matter?
-There is NO app usage on the days.
-Android 13 with ONE UI Core-Version 5.1
Update: After Reeboot the Smartphone seems to have a normal battery drain again. I can only wait for it to happen again

I sent the device in for service today. Service partner probably near Warsaw in Poland in the neighboring country.... I was thinking about buying another Samsung A14, but I'll try the service first.
Based on the problem, the best solution would actually be to send me a replacement device straight away. Maybe they just replace the battery. Maybe it will solve the problem, you never know... Maybe I can send the device in again. Let's see how the story continues.
Of course it could be the battery, but if the problem is 100% dependent on the running time of the operating system? Extensive error documentation is included. Fortunately, mostly in English. Of course I submitted the support case with a description of the error in German. For me, this is theoretically the first contradiction and possibly an indication that the battery is simply being replaced.
Let's see, we are full of hope......

Update
04/09/2024 The device was declared "repaired" and returned to me. According to tracking, the return label was created on April 9, 2024 at 5:47 p.m. The device arrived at the service provider on April 8th, 2024 at 6:37 am.
Very interesting what comes next. According to the email, the IMEI has apparently not changed. If the information is correct, then it may have been the battery replaced. Very curious, because I personally couldn't have said clearly whether it was the battery based issue... Which, by the way, was also mentioned in the appendices
Let's see how repair attempt #1 turns out
Edit: No further information to repair in the samsung user account.

Today, (11.04.2024) i got my Samsung Galaxy A14 back.
According to "Samsung", the device has been repaired and the error has been resolved. Further: The check was carried out with the “highest quality standards” and the problem stated in my error description could be resolved. Experts also carried out an overall check and a functionality test.
*Full of excitement* What was the problem and what was done?
I have no idea... I didn't get anything more than what was stated above. The device came back in visually perfect condition, as if it had never been touched. If the battery was changed, then you did a good job. The device came back with 68% battery. Maybe the battery was changed, maybe not. IMEI and serial number are the same, at first glance it doesn't look like the device has been replaced. No note or comments on the problem description that I enclosed. However, the device was touched and there was still a separate plastic film around it. What you can say for sure is that it has been repackaged.
Battery levels:
85% 01.04.2024 21:58 p.m
84% 02.04.2024 20:22 (Shipping next day)
__% No note from Samsung as to what percentage the device had when it arrived. Despite the extra note attached. Samsung restarted the device before the error was observed. I included 10 pages that explained the problem. It was not absolutely necessary to observe the error, so OK
68% April 11, 2024 3:59 p.m. (Day of return)
I don't know if Samsung replaced the battery or charged the device. The battery difference is 17%, with the device gone for almost 10 days. Maybe the battery was replaced, maybe it was tested and charged. But 17% would also fit perfectly with “Samsung didn’t do anything”. It would have been nice to get brief information about what was actually done.
I'll report back in 10 days...
I also have access to a second Sasmung Galaxy A14, which was charged to 100% 213h (~9days) hours ago and is currently at 77%. The device was in flight mode the entire time and was only used for a very short time. I haven't made any energy saving options. This corresponds to approx. 2.6% battery consumption per day. I will report here in a few days....

Today is 15.04.2024
1.) "The Second Device 2/2"
As mentioned, I got access to ANOTHER A14.....
The second device seems to have exactly the same problem, after 9 to 10 days of system life the battery consumption "increases". Today the device still had 41% battery left, with a runtime of 300 hours 15 minutes. The device was in airplane mode/not used the entire time. See Screenshots.....
2.) "I briefly held a other smartphone in my Hands"
I also briefly have access to a Nokia g22. The results are in no way comparable/usable, especially for such a short period of time. But as a possible orientation.
Both devices were in airplane mode throughout the days, and the Samsung G14 obviously didn't have the battery drain at this time... not yet
Date | Time | Samsung Galaxy A14 | Nokia G22 |
11.04.2024 | 21:50 | 85% (fully loaded) | 100% (fully loaded) |
12.04.2024 | 21:48 | 83% | 100% |
13.04.2024 | 21:49 | 82% | 99% |
14.04.2024 | 21:47 | 80% | 97% |
15.04.2024 | 5:30 | 80% | 97% |
See again next week, when my repaired A14 should have oder not have.... battery drain again.
22-04-2024 04:14 PM
Today is 22.04.2024, my "repaired" Samsung Galaxy A14 drains again after 9 - 10 days.....of course.
Get if back from service, charged once, nothing changed, factory settings, in airplane mode all the time

11.04.2024 | 21:50 | 85% |
12.04.2024 | 21:48 | 83% (-2%) |

16.04.2024 | 21:52 | 78% (-1%) |
17.04.2024 | 21:47 | 76% (-2%) |

21:04.2024 | 21:50 | 67% (-5%) |
22:04.2024 | --16:56-- | 59 % (-8%) |
From my point of view, it makes absolutely no sense to send the device back to “Samsung” (*After Sales Service Provider*).
My Samsung Galaxy is currently charging again, I won't restart it this time. I'm now letting the Samsung Galaxy A14 bleed, no more first aid. Let's see if the problem gets EVEN worse.
I've been observing this problem for almost a year now, and in my situation the error pattern is 100% clear and reproducible. Now things are really starting...

Today is April 27th, 2024 (Saturday morning). The problem still exists, no help from Samsung yet.
I'm currently in the process of identifying all mods in the forum and contacting the staff in a last ditch effort. That someone cares about the problem and his employer/financier Samsung. I have contacted three mods so far, a mod has already contacted me and given me a contact for the other mod, contacted on Wednesday evening. Sent the problem to both mods, no further response yet. (Edit: Get response from both, today on sunday Afternoon)
In the middle of the week I will also contact Samsung's press representatives. I still ask if people have time to test their A14 for the phenomenon 🙂 All I can say is that the problem pisses me off from an environmental and sustainability perspective. I tested two devices and found exactly the problem in BOTH. The big problem is that the error only occurs after 9 to 10 days. I will also constantly send the problem to support again and again, even if the suggested solutions were not nearly solution-oriented.
By the way, here is my continued log. As mentioned, i charged the device to 95%. I won't restart the device for the next few weeks. As always, the device just sat on the table unused all week.
Date | Time | Battery |
22.04.2024 | 22:05 | 95% |
23.04.2024 | 21:55 | 87% (-8%) |
24.04.2024 | 21:53 | 79% (-8%) |
25.04.2024 | 22:00 | 71% (-8%) |
26.04.2024 | 22:14 | 63% (-8%) |
Greetings and happy bleeding

Hi there, @DrWage, and thanks for updating us. I've responded to you separately from my own account and from the Sam_UK inbox, having advised you to write to our shared/primary Moderator account.
I did not see the messages that you sent during the week until today, so I hope that the information I have provided in the messages will help ensure you get this matter fully investigated and resolved.

Today is 01.05.2024 (Wednesday evening), the problem still exists. Mods seems to kindly want to help, thx. Total working time with reply, reinstallation of the app and the answer here, ~65 minutes.
On advice, I submitted an error report via Samsung members app again. Descriptive Problem briefly, with referring to this thread.
I also have the PDF with a bundled error description and battery history log on the computer. If someone reads this from Service/Support, which theoretically should be the case. I can also send the PDF, although the error is actually clearly documented here.

Today is 08.05.2024 (Wednesday evening), the problem still exists. No response from support yet, which is not unusual. I sometimes waited a week for a response to previous error reports, it's ok, especially in this case. Total working time approx. 55 minutes

2.) At the moment Im testing my Motorola Moto E4 and a Gigaset GS110 against the Galaxy A14 (In the drain state). Both devices seem to massively outperform the A14. Even though the Motorola is already 6.5 years old, it has been deeply discharged several times. The Gigaset GS110 was just mistreated and is also very old... The Samsung Galaxy A14 is completely new...
Of course, you also have to consider the Galaxy A14's CPU compared to the Moto E4. The A14 has a 5,000 mAh battery, but the Moto E4 has a ridiculous 2,800 mAh. But even the Gigaset seems to completely destroy the A14 when it comes to standby performance...
Without battery drain, the A14 shows good performance.
