Galaxy A12 Microphone Issues

Several days ago both of the microphones on my Galaxy A12 failed during phone calls and voice recordings using the messaging app.  At best I could hear, and others I was talking to could hear, very faint sounds surrounded by static.

However....

When I use the video feature on the Camera app, both microphones record my voice clearly, without any static.

I am completely baffled as to the nature of this problem.  Is it bad hardware?  Bad software?

I tried a full factory reset and every other bit of advice related to the microphones, but the problem remains consistent.

The mics do not work when I make a phone call; they do work when I record a video.

Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same issue now. Mic 1 doesn't work properly, but Mic 2 is ok, so that I can record videos, but nobody can hear me during calls. Could you let me know if you resolved your issue?

You have to open the phone and replace the lower MIC board.

There is no other fix.

Thank you! If that’s the only solution, I don’t think I’ll ever buy a Samsung again...

It is really easy to replace.  The board is less than $10 on amazon or ebay.

I fixed my parents phone this way.

It is a shame Samsung has create this problem and NOT done anything to address it!

Mine no longer has this problem, but I have never used the 3.5mm jack and only use bluetooth to connect to my car stereo for talking.

I agree with the message from Jfceklosky. You do have to replace the lower MIC board. I replaced mine and it is now working. I do think, though, that something has been done that has initiated all of these problems, and I am of the opinion that Samsung is hiding away about it, because the problems are so prevalent.

Having the same issue, mic 2 working, mic 1 not working. I have to use phone on speaker mode. I only had Samsung phones, but probably next one won't be.

Another one bites the dust.

Order the $7 board and replace it.  Samsung must have used faulty hardware in the board.
