A52 updated yesterday and now fingerprint sensor not working

I updated my phone yesterday and now I can't access anything that uses the fingerprint sensor.

On trying to access the fingerprints part in Settings I get 'fingerprint sesnor not working, if this keeps happening restart your phone'.  restarting it doesn't work.  

When I've tried to log into banking, the sensor bit that you put your thumb doesn't show and I now can't access any banking on my phone.  Anyone else had this issue after updating?

last update was 19th july. 

This is a massive ballache so any fixes appreciated.

You could try a 'wipe cache and 'repair apps' both in same menu.

Check YouTube how to go about it.

Also after a software update check both Samsung and Google play for updates to apps.

did both, still not working I'm afraid.  I can't even delete the fingerprint profile as the 'sensor not working' box pops up everytime I try and change anything.  wish I hadn't updated it now.  *****

do you have a leathercase with magnet to hold the phone in place. i have and when i take out the phone it works with fingerprint sensor....-
