Hello,
I have the G9 OLED for two days and have really lousy problems:
- when I start a game in fullscreen mode with the native resolution of 5120x1440, the monitor sometimes shuts down. There's no way to restore the image until I'm somehow able to either blindly quit the game or restart the PC - sometimes only the reset button helps.
- When starting certain apps or fullscreen applications, I hear a sound like a device is connecting and disconnecting. I also hear this randomly - it stopped, when I disconnected the USB cable from the monitor and ramains happening when I start full screen applications and exit them.
- I randomly have black screens every now and then without doing anything specific. And quite extreme: If I watch a video via any media player, enter fullscreen and move the mouse, the screen goes black for 3 seconds and then returns. If I move the mouse again, the screen goes black again. This goes on and on.
- I am using an RTX 4090 with this monitor. When I set it to 240 Hz, the GPU memory clock rate is not downclocked when the PC is idle. That means the GPU memory clock (not GPU clock) is always running at max clock, which is not ideal for power consumption and temperatures.
I use a Display Port 1.4 cable with 32.4 Gbit/s, but also have an HDMI 2.1 cable with 48 gbit/s. This happens with both cables. As soon as I lower the monitor Hz to 120, the memory MHz goes back to the correct idle value, as it should. Is this a normal behavior?
- when I turn off VRR on the monitor, it is no longer possible to set the native resolution.
The monitor is running on the latest firmware version 1023.
These are honestly such massive problems that I am almost determined to return this monitor to Samsung as soon as possible.
Any input from more experienced Samsung users who have been able to remedy these issues?
Thanks so much!

New firmware update just dropped. Won't be able to install it yet, since I'm currently out traveling. But hopefully this solves the issue mentioned above!
Thanks samsung for hopefully addressing this.

What update just dropped and when? G93? The latest Update for G95SC is still version 2000.2 from Sept 2024....

Yeah, unfortunately
The update is for the LS49CG934SUXE.
But I really hope this solves the issues I'm experiencing.

The non-smart G9 (G93SC) got the update, 1009.0
The smart G9 (G95SC) should be receiving it shortly after. Usually within 30 days.

Can anyone confirm this Firmware fixes the issues on the G93?

Hey guys, I was involved with this thread back in page 20-21.
Jus wanted to say that I have the non-smart version and I was experiencing 5 seconds blackouts after upgrading from 1004.0 to 1006.3 (but it came back automatically so not as bad as some have experienced with the smart model), I rolled back to 1005.2 and no issues since (~6 months) . Also I had the issues with DP and not with HDMI, and I was using the 3 connections on the monitor.
Mine is G9 OLED LS49CG930SNXZA.
I never got the nerve to test 1007.1, and I will not test 1009.0 which released 2 days ago. I'm fine where I am.

What are you afraid of? In case it gets worse you can always roll back to the working 1005 version again?

Hey again,
It's actually a bit annoying that they're not giving any notes on whats improved/changed etc when I opened the download file it's the same notes which came with the 1007.1
But I do recommend having the newest firmware due to the improved panel care features, which in return will extend the longevity of the panel.

Im losing the picture even with hdmi 2.1 on g95

I'm afraid it's not a firmware issue but actually the upgrade process being ***** and the upgrade script not being entirely run when upgrading.
If that was the case and I upgrade, it breaks, and I go back, maybe it will not work anymore... and if it's not broken, why try to fix it?
Also I won't trust any new Samsung features for panel care lol
