Hello,
I have the G9 OLED for two days and have really lousy problems:
- when I start a game in fullscreen mode with the native resolution of 5120x1440, the monitor sometimes shuts down. There's no way to restore the image until I'm somehow able to either blindly quit the game or restart the PC - sometimes only the reset button helps.
- When starting certain apps or fullscreen applications, I hear a sound like a device is connecting and disconnecting. I also hear this randomly - it stopped, when I disconnected the USB cable from the monitor and ramains happening when I start full screen applications and exit them.
- I randomly have black screens every now and then without doing anything specific. And quite extreme: If I watch a video via any media player, enter fullscreen and move the mouse, the screen goes black for 3 seconds and then returns. If I move the mouse again, the screen goes black again. This goes on and on.
- I am using an RTX 4090 with this monitor. When I set it to 240 Hz, the GPU memory clock rate is not downclocked when the PC is idle. That means the GPU memory clock (not GPU clock) is always running at max clock, which is not ideal for power consumption and temperatures.
I use a Display Port 1.4 cable with 32.4 Gbit/s, but also have an HDMI 2.1 cable with 48 gbit/s. This happens with both cables. As soon as I lower the monitor Hz to 120, the memory MHz goes back to the correct idle value, as it should. Is this a normal behavior?
- when I turn off VRR on the monitor, it is no longer possible to set the native resolution.
The monitor is running on the latest firmware version 1023.
These are honestly such massive problems that I am almost determined to return this monitor to Samsung as soon as possible.
Any input from more experienced Samsung users who have been able to remedy these issues?
Thanks so much!

Follow-up monitor was replaced. So far no backscreen issues.

Hi lads
I think I got the worst issue. Since 1402.6 i cant display HDMI/mini HDMI/DP. Tried with laptop apple TV and desktop. Technicians came they tried other cables. They said they never saw that issue
I have to setup a multiview mode where I share the screen with my DP/HDMI + Whatever you want (even nothing) to be able to display my PC
Paying thousand of dollars to get a monitor which doesnt work. Looks like an firmware problem but it still take them months to solve it. I m sick of Samsung i'll probably sell it if they change it
I;m also waiting for someone to do the dowgrade as i dont have any USB drive
I'm waiting for Samsung answer

Model G93SC, update...
I've had the Samsung service tech here twice. First time they replaced the main board (and the power adapter). With the newest firmware the black screen issue came back. Second time they replaced the panel (basically most of the monitor, except main board and speakers). After that the issue is gone/solved. It's been 12 days now without a black screen. With latest firmware.
So, if you have this issue, have them replace the panel or the whole monitor.

So I've had this monitor for three days now, LS49CG954SN with Version 1402.6, and I'm facing the black screen issues. Coming from the Neo G9, which gave me absolutely no issues at all, I kind of regret this "upgrade" as this seems to be a hardware issue and not firmware related.
With this widespread of an issue and a panel replacement being the cure, then it's a totally different panel they're replacing it with. A recall needs to happen.
I can watch YouTube for an hour or surf the web with no black screening but as son as I play a game, it'll black screen at the worse time.
Now I could take mine back to Best Buy and exchange it for another one, but my local best buy just recently got three in stock. So I would be taking a gamble but will most likely have the same issue with one of the two they have left, most likely they came from the same assembly line.

Have you reported the issue to samsung?

I have not, and most likely won't. I'll probably take my chances and exchange it for another one at Best Buy. I don't want to waste my time and days for a tech to come out to my house multiple times in replacing parts. They follow repair steps and in this case, it seems like they replace the board first and if that doesn't work they replace the panel.

Understand that. I don't want the hassle either, the people that come round aren't samsung anyway at least not where I live. The problem is..it's not just you who has the issue and if you're calling for a product recall it's no good just posting on a forum. you should notify them and get a ticket number. I have said before ideally we would one a single ticket and anyone that came on here we could point them to that ticket number.
We've all got the same issue so can you at least please raise the issue with them, point to this forum. We're now on 16 pages of complaints, updates etc
The more people that complain, the better.

I understand what you're saying, I may contact Samsung but I know I'm going to get the scripted response "Oh, we've never heard of this issue".
I'm willing to bet the 2024 OLED G9 won't have this issue, which I'm sure will be released around November. So my other option is to exchange my 2023 OLED G9 for the 2024 OLED G9 through my Best Buy replacement plan.

Obviously it's up you. I'm on my 3rd samsung monitor after returns. the issue for me occurs so infreqently that i've been patient to wait to see if they get a firmware update to fix it. We've been told that they *are* aware of the issue.
But again I'm stressing that's it no good to the rest of us if you don't bother to raise the issue with them at least.

You're on your 3rd OLED G9?
These defiantly need to be recalled then.
Back when I had my CHG70, they use to list what the firmware did/fixed and gave a firmware history. They since then stopped that and makes no sense.
