I have bought a Samsung Odyssey G7 monitor around 3 months ago. Everything worked perfectly until last week, when my display just stopped working completely. After hopeless unplugging and plugging of the DisplayPort that came with the monitor, black stripes across the monitor appeared. I've tried to use HDMI and the black lines are still visible but not as much as for the DisplayPort output. I've also tried plugging in the monitor to another device with HDMI as I don't have a device that supports DisplayPort, the same issue persists. I do not have another monitor with a DisplayPort, so I cannot test the cable itself either.
Solutions I've already tried:
- Self Diagnosis
- Firmware Update, it's currently on its latest version (ver 1009.3)
- Factory Reset
- Unplugging the power source and the video cable and plugging it back inBlack stripes on DisplayPort output.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Yeah it is actually sad. I am not able to diagnoe the problem myself, even i can do some small electronic stuff, but this would be above my level.
Would be awesome, if there is someone actually could help diagnose this well known problem. I would like to know if it is just some cap exploded or an defective panel.

Thank you for sharing the answer, it really helped!
Now we know where the problem is (in the TFT panel).
Thank you very much!

I share the same thoughts/feelings as you man.
It's sad that a £2400 TV just snaps like that, how am I going to purchase another Samsung TV now - knowing that's it's a matter of time.
What I received from their support chat, is that their TVs are designed to work in a well-lit room, and excessive use in dark room may damage the screen. Maybe that's a cause for the problem?
A solution apparently (in monitors), is the "TFT Panel" (whatever that is), and in TVs it might be similar component.
