Is there a fix for this? Seems kinda stupid having to force power off and restart the PC to get the monitor to see the PC again.
Turned off the option to turn off the monitor for now in power settings, but it's OLED so ideally I want it to turn off after 15 minutes of no activity.

What I need to do in my case is power cycle the monitor multiple times(pull the power cord out of monitor and back in) until it finally registers DP properly and with correct resolution. And do this several times a day at least. So in average I power cycle the monitor at least 15-20 times each day because of this issue.

My version is 1604.2 Where did you find version 1622.6 to download? It doesn't seem available on Samsung site.

It is available now. This new firmware appeared yesterday. I will try it.
But be aware if you use custom settings for this monitor it does nullify them all and you have to do them again.

Just upgraded to a rog strix 4080 and instantly had the same issue.
Fix for me was go into settings on the G8, Connection, External Device Manager, Input Signal Plus and take the selection out of the display port.
Now the G8 can go to sleep without effecting the PC.

This issue still persists for me. None of the suggested solutions in this thread work.

Problem I had with the Odyssey G8 is it would only get a signal upon a cold reboot. Restarting just gave blank screen. Turning monitor off and on just blank screen. DP or HDMI didn't matter. Updated monitor and PC all drivers didn't help. Default BIOS settings don't help. Put my old monitor back on and all worked fine.
What finally helped with my G8 is I had to tweak the BIOS/UEFI setting on the ROG Strix Z-590 and now it works well in any scenario.

What did you tweak in the bios?

Can't remember exactly. I think something under Advanced/Video settings but not sure and I don't want to trial & error in case I don't get it back. But I have just backed up by BIOS/UEFI settings as a both TXT and CMO files, if you'd like those to poke around in and compare to yours? Again, it just finally worked for me and works perfectly.
