I'm intrigued... When I woke up this morning, my watch 6 had a WhatsApp message that had been received at 05:54. I read it on my watch (as you do) but then started wondering how I'd done that, as my phone was switched off. I've got the basic Bluetooth version, not connected to anything. So, with my phone turned off, how does a WhatsApp message get to my watch?? Magic??

Your watch will have WiFi as well as Bluetooth.
So the message most likely came through the WiFi connection

yep, whatsapp don't need your phone to be turn on ,all it need is wifi, as long as you link your account .
it work just like you view your whatapp message on your laptop or pc web browser .
