I recently switched from Pixel LTE Watch to Galaxy Watch 6 LTE version. However, I kept a Google Pixel 6 phone. One of the EE technicians confirmed that the LTE version of the watch works with Samsung phones only.
I had this error message "EE doesn't offer mobile plans for your watch"
Strangely, I didn't see any small print saying that the LTE version is compatible with Samsung phones only.
I found this article, but clearly says that I can "...activate the mobile network only when you use a phone running the Android operating system 5.0 or later and with 1.5GB of RAM or more".

Is it possible that this requirement is imposed by the carrier, not Samsung?

I got the same issue too. I just bought a Watch 6 LTE and have a Pixel phone and now, I can't setup LTE. The service center used a Samsung phone and set it up, but after that, the Wearable app on my Pixel asks me to transfer the watch to the new phone and just gets stuck. This is very frustrating that we require a Samsung phone to initiate the feature!
